📌 Many new participants of the Proggy-Buggy Contest wonder why The Spring Contest is called the Towel Contest. Well, the answer lies in Douglas Adams's The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. And we are great fans of it (42 minutes, towels, traveling, etc.).
The Towel Contest is held on May 25th, Towel Day, which is celebrated globally as a tribute to the author. A towel is considered the most helpful item for an interstellar traveler and can be useful in any difficult situation.
In the Towel Contest, participants should bring a towel, which can help them win exciting prizes.
👉 We invite students, developers, testers, and all people who understand how programs are written, know what "console applications" and "standard input/output streams" are, and like to solve unsolved problems.
📌 It will be a fun event, so join us this May 25th!

We often refer to the novel "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams in our Proggy-Buggy Contest:
• the main heroes of our contest, Proggy, and Buggy, are like the heroes of the novel, traveling across the galaxy;
• participants have 42 minutes to solve 13 problems, which is a nod to the "Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything" in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy books;
• our advice to participants is "Don't panic!" - a phrase made famous by the book. Douglas Adams' use of "don't panic" in his novel was perhaps the best advice that could be given to humanity;
• we even use towels during the Spring Contest, as they are a multi-purpose tool symbolizing preparedness, practicality, and resourcefulness;
• we organize a Towel Contest on May 25th - International Towel Day - which has become a sort of "geek holiday" due to its connection to the popular series.
So, if you're interested in a fun and lighthearted contest that involves solving algorithmic problems and using a towel, we invite you to participate in the Proggy-Buggy Towel Contest on May 25th, 2024.
You can find all the details and registration information at the link. Stay tuned, and don't forget: Don't Panic!
