Teaching children to be responsible is an important part of growing up. It is critical for children to learn to be responsible for their actions and belongings as they grow up. In the final year of Kindergarten, our children's responsibilities increase in order to prepare them for life in school. We start coming to class by ourselves for the first time, we begin learning to dress and undress on our own, we take charge in reporting information to our parents, and we become more responsible for our classroom.

A fantastic way to get children to become more responsible for their classroom and their belongings is to create a "Class Jobs" board. Each child is assigned, or chooses a job for the week. These jobs are then rotated on a weekly basis. The purpose of having the children help complete these jobs is to build a sense of responsibility within the classroom. Through jobs, children learn to be independent, caring, and contribute to the classroom.
