In the grade 6 elective of “Health and Human Development” the students have been learning about healthy eating and what vitamins and minerals can be found in each food. During the last couple of lessons, we have looked into the ideal diet for different sports and why athletes need certain vitamins and minerals before and after competition.
With their new knowledge of food and diet, the grade 6 students made their diet plan to correspond with their sport of football. They showed their understanding of increasing carbohydrate intake before matchday and increasing protein intake after matches and heavy training sessions. Overall it was a positive life lesson for the students that increased their knowledge of dietary preparation for their respective sport.

Fostering early literacy skills is paramount for nursery students at Primakov School. Employing the Jolly Phonics system, we introduce letters through interactive methods. Recognising their limited attention spans, repetition plays a pivotal role, with engaging drills and catchy mnemonics, making learning enjoyable. This approach establishes a robust foundation for future academic success in a dynamic, interactive environment.
Recognising the importance of multisensory engagement, research shows that we retain 10% of what we read, 20% of what we hear, 30% of what we see, 50% of what we see and hear, 70% of what we discuss, and 80% of what we experience. Thus, we integrate repeated rhymes, sounds, and tactile interaction with flashcards, complemented by weekly crafts. Phonics games, such as adaptations of classics like "Duck, Duck Goose," add a playful dimension, engagingly reinforcing letter sound recognition.
