🧑🏻🎨 Modern sculptors distilled their subjects to the purist forms. Inspired by the elegant simplicity of Constantin Brancusi’s, “Bird in Space” circa 1932-40, Grade 4 students focused on shape that echoes Brancusi’s work but is also their own interpretation of this famous sculpture. An iconographic work, seen in several original versions in art museums around the world.
The students chose colours that were contrasting or with slight discord and used a blending technique that created a gradual transition from one tone to the next.
The edge of the sculptures has flow and natural curves created by a wire armature inside the skin of the sculpture.
We loved making groupings of these works where they could be seen in relationship to each other. The sculptures will form a popup exhibition in the new building in the coming weeks.

📝 Preparing for the Cambridge Starters test can be a daunting time for students in Kindergarten. Having the children practice written and spoken everyday English is an excellent way for them to gain confidence and be ready for that final test.
Year 2 have had extra English lessons throughout each day to help them be ready for this intimidating task. Whether listening to audio that involves accents they are not familiar with, or working through the Starter's workbook, one thing is for sure, the year 2 students are focused, well equipped and optimistic. They have all done an amazing job preparing so far, and no doubt will give it their best!
