☃️ Last Friday, our Kindergarten held a special assembly dedicated to winter. Nursery students shared their thoughts on what winter means to them, expressing the traditions, memories, and challenges associated with the season.

To conclude the presentation, we played a game, «This or that?» where the children participated in creating a snowman, contributing by sharing winter-related vocabulary.

📚 «Altered Books» is a craft that upcycles old books, otherwise sitting on shelves or pulped into poor quality recycled paper and turns them into three-dimensional forms. The Grade 4 students have taken discarded books and repurposed them into sculptures.

Using pattern and accurate folding they can experience firsthand how volume is increased as pages are folded once or twice, the book expands into twice or thrice times its original volume. This is a terrific cross-over to Math concepts.

The students also applied English language to the anatomy of the book, learning the position of the spine, gutter, leaves and binding as words that are also used in other contexts and comparing to the same information to book binding in Russian.

Language, Math and Art are combined in this Primary Technology unit.
