CW: some descriptive pictures of wounds and healing process
So I fell on the ground this week and got scraped up pretty badly. Nothing serious but honestly a hassle.
Particularly bad was this scrape across the thumb, a circular hole of raised skin right across one knuckle. It hurt like hell, it got inflamed, it kept leaking liquid.
βThis will be a long hassleβ, I thought. I bought a disinfectant spray and bandaids. I cleaned it twice a day, then daily. After three days it dried and the dead skin shriveled and I was able to cut it off.
Underneath, the skin is whole. Pink and tender but mostly okay.
Who would have thought that if you care for your wounds instead of watching them get inflamed and forcibly squeezing out the pus once in a while they heal faster and better?
