I wanted to share an Italian poem I really like with you all, but I wasn't fond of any particular translation I found online, so I decided to translate it for you. I am no professional, keep this in mind, but I tried to keep the original feelings - and the feelings this poem gives me - in the rhythm and the words. It was fun, so I might do it again; I love sharing stuff I like with you all and I wouldn't mind a chance to practice my English skills

In my region in southern Italy, when someone we know has a family death, in the following weeks we go visit them at home and bring one pack of coffee and one of sugar, possibly with other stuff like sweets if the relationship is close.
This practice is called cuonzolo, to console, and we do it because we think that the mournings have no time or energy to care about themselves and may need some stuff to cheer up; additionally, it's customary to offer coffee to guests, so it's a way to assure that they don't run out of stuff they might need when other guests come to visit
