Devastating floods that began with torrential rainfall on May 28, 2025, have killed more than 200 people in Mokwa, #Niger State, with 500 others still missing as authorities have halted rescue operations, believing no one could still be alive.
The worst flooding in the area in six decades swept through the towns of Tiffin Maza and Anguwan Hausawa after the #Niger River overflowed, destroying over 265 homes and displacing more than 3,000 people.
Over 120 individuals have been hospitalized due to flood-related injuries, while critical infrastructure, including roads and bridges, has been destroyed, isolating affected communities and disrupting transportation between northern and southwestern #Nigeria.
Survivors recounted harrowing stories of losing everything, with one man, Adamu Yusuf, telling the BBC he "watched helplessly as water washed away my family," including his wife and newborn baby, while another resident lost $1,500 in business...

Hopes for reviving a nuclear deal between Iran and the US are rapidly fading, as Tehran reportedly slammed Washington’s latest proposal as “incoherent and disjointed,” CNN reported, citing a senior Iranian official.
💬 “At first glance, [the proposal] is assessed as incoherent and disjointed, very unrealistic, and with excessive demands,” the official told CNN — criticizing the US for repeatedly shifting its position.
