To be honest, custom ROMs no longer excite me like they used to (such as during the Android 10/11 era). I think the reason is that developers have been copy-pasting the same features and customizations to newer versions. I'm not against this, but it's starting to feel boring to me.

Nowadays, when you buy a Samsung or Pixel phone, you realize they offer much more personalization and innovation compared to custom ROMs (like Samsung's Good Lock app). This reduces the need for custom ROMs, at least for these devices.

However, there's another side to the coin. Not everyone can afford a Samsung or Pixel (my situation as well). This is where custom ROMs become a lifeline for phones from Xiaomi (and its sub-brands), BBK group (Oppo, OnePlus, Realme, etc.), Nothing, or CMF. These devices' clunky operating systems can be full of problems like processor underclocking, unnecessary applications (bloatware), poor interface, weak battery life, and planned obsolescence.

Custom ROMs can purge these devices of all these problems and achieve almost "Ferrari" performance. For example, ROMs like Paranoid Android are specifically optimized for Snapdragon processors, while projects like LineageOS offer a clean and stable experience on almost every device.

As a result, until I acquire a new Pixel or Samsung, these ROMs continue to be a necessity, not a choice, for users like me. I am truly grateful to this developer community that liberates my device from imposed limitations and brings it to its full potential.
