FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) of WebChatGPT

- Why does the extension ask for access permission to all websites?

The extension requires access to all websites because there is no back-end server to process web requests and everything happens locally in the browser. There are two modes: web search and web page text extraction from URLs. Web search requires access to the search engine, while URL text extraction requires access to any website. That's why access permission to all websites is required.

- The extension is not working, the toolbar is not showing up. What can I do?

It is known that some other ChatGPT extensions conflict with WebChatGPT. We are trying to improve compatibility with other extensions. In the meantime, if you are experiencing problems with the toolbar not showing up, please try disabling any other ChatGPT extensions you have installed and reloading the page. If you still have trouble, please feel free to contact us on our Discord server for help - https://discord.gg/nmCjvyVpnB.

- Do you collect any data?

No, we do not collect any user data or analytics. This is an open source project, the source code is publicly available for everyone to review at https://github.com/interstellard/chatgpt-advanced.

Hiding Android navigation buttons:
You should also hide the Android navigation buttons. There are several ways to do this
With root:
From Smart Dock advanced settings
Edit /system/build.prop and add qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
Run "echo qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 >> /system/build.prop"
Without root
Mount the system partition on Linux, edit /system/build.prop and add qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
For waydroid users, from Linux run waydroid prop set qemu.hw.mainkeys 1
With LSPosed (might help on Android 11+):
See LSPosed
The app uses an accessibility service to capture keyboard input, if that service is crashed you might need to re-enable it and/or restart the system.
