#canadayear - week 7
Saturday: We had a great day, put some garbage away and watched The Trotsky. We also went to a climate crisis workshop with the other people on pender, were I've heard some very interesting ideas.
Sunday: I run the terry appreciation run on pender. Which means 10 km, in under an hour. Not a good idea tbh. Xavier and Amy left us quite suddenly. This mixes up a lot of planes, I initially wanted to go to victoria this week and stay there for a bit, maybe team up with another work and traveler, or at least have a good look at the city, work a bit before I'd continue to maybe go into the island and find some farms there to be. But now, I will stay here a bit longer, at least until ellen founds another woofer. Maybe means though that we can go sailing a couple of times. And Ellen's plans about fixing roofes and stuff got thrown over as well. Welp. But we had a nice family dinner, eating a big chicken they raised last year.
Monday: Ellen went to the dump on victoria, so I had a pretty relaxed day with rob after I put some trash in her truck. A friend of them, freddy, joined us later on :D
Tuesday: Ellen arrived yesterday with the truck full of groceries. We spend the day getting those into their designated places.
Wednesday: Connor, the grandson of ellen, visited us. We had some fun together with their chickens and finding holes in their fence where they kept getting out.
Thursday: When feeding chickens, I discovered that there are no food bags left. Amy must've opened the last one and didnt tell us. Anyway, we have to go to Victoria tomorrow and get new ones, and will just drop some dump off on our way there.
Friday: I woke up with a bit of a cold, nevertheless, we went to Victoria to get chicken food and put some stuff in the dump. Mainly a matress, which was hard to get in and hard to get out. On the upside, we got amazing sandwiches :D
After doing the evening routine, we ate pasta with hot rum toddy, which ia a great medicine💪

#canadayear - week 8
Saturday - Sunday: The bit of cold hit me hart, so I kinda fought this off during the weekend, nothing interesting happend there
Monday: general farm tasks, yay \o/
Tuesday: Ellen and Rob went to a doctors appointment, so I had the day for me, I did some little hay movement within the goats area.
Wednesday: Ellen and me took connor with us and went to sidney/victoria in order to get rubber for the boat hatch we replaced.
Thursday: Quite a bit happened. I packed my things, we attached the hatch to boat and we fixed the hot tube. I also traveled over to Victora and booked a room in the Ocean Island Inn youth hostel for a week. They made a nice dinner and had a free beer included, so thats great.
Friday: What a day. In the morning, I met a japanase data scientist, which is a subspecies of programmers. What they are doing is really mind blowing. Then I went to the #FridaysForFuture parade (my first ever), which was way bigger then they though (and organized for). Was a great experience nontheless. The amount of people I met during the evening back in teh hostel is stunning:
• A french woman and an irish guy, travelling together. She learned english here in Canada, he was all over the world so far. They met at a woofing farm somwhere close by.
• A guy from New Zealand, being here for hiking and skiing. Wants to work at a ski resort
• A guy who has his own company, selling stuff made out of bamboo. He was either high or crazy, but great entertainment.
• Jason, a local construction worker who has a problem with his girlfriend and got kicked out of the other youth hostel because of a 21 days max stays per year rule, also got ripped off of 2k dollars at his first construction work here in Victoria. Poor guy.
The evening is not even close to be finished, so lets see who I will talk with as well. Pictures will follow later if I can be bothered to charge my phone.
