Ever dreamed of seeing yourself on a movie poster? At Polytech, you don’t have to dream 😉
An exhibition called “One-to-One” has opened at the IMOP building. It features recreations of iconic movie and TV posters, brought to life by international students and their teachers.
Friends, Santa Barbara, The Office — and many more. Come by, explore, and maybe even spot your pals on the posters!
The main challenge was to recreate each poster as accurately as possible. And the participants nailed it — from outfits to facial expressions, poses, and overall mood of the original characters.
You can check out the exhibition at the Winter Garden until early summer ✨

🖼 The idea for the exhibition came from a love of art. As the organizers explain: “At first, we thought about recreating paintings, but then realized it might not feel modern enough for students. That’s how we came up with the idea of poster recreations — something much more relevant for a young audience.”

Dear friends! Happy Space Day!
This year we are marking an important date – the 65th anniversary of the first human flight into space. The feat of Yuri Gagarin forever changed the course of history and opened the way for humanity to new horizons.
Back then, Polytech made its contribution to the preparation of this historic event, and today our scientists and engineers continue to create breakthrough technologies for space.
More details about the space developments of our university can be found in a large article by Rossiyskaya Gazeta, published on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's flight.
Congratulate everyone involved in the space industry! I wish you bright victories, breakthroughs, and good luck!

He started a chain reaction ⚗
Today marks the 130th anniversary of the birth of Nikolai Nikolaevich Semyonov, an outstanding physicist, chemist, and professor at the Polytechnic Institute, the first Nobel Prize winner in chemistry in the USSR — awarded in 1956 (jointly with Cyril Hinshelwood) "for his research into the mechanism of chemical reactions."
📚 At just 24 years old, Nikolai Nikolaevich became a lecturer at the Petrograd Polytechnic Institute. And as a 30-year-old associate professor, he founded his own school, which colleagues aptly nicknamed the "Semyonov Regiment."
🧪 Nikolai Nikolaevich made fundamental contributions to the establishment of chemical physics: he developed the theory of chain and branched reactions (using the oxidation of phosphorus vapor as an example), the theory of thermal explosions and combustion of gas mixtures, and together with Pyotr Kapitsa, he devised a method for measuring the magnetic moment of the atom.
