"Bamba became WBA Gold Cruiserweight world champion last weekend by beating Rogelio Medina in New Jersey. The victory was his 14th by knockout in 2024, breaking a record set by legendary heavyweight Mike Tyson. The American, who was born in Puerto Rico, held a 19-3 record over the course of his career and had called out Jake Paul after beating Medina.

"But just six days later he has been found dead.

"Bamba was represented by American popstar Ne-Yo, who recently set up a boxing management venture, and his passing has caused profound shock in the American boxing community."
