"PIVX core development is progressing extremely well with numerous new commits after thorough testing, along with our first public segregated testnet release that showcases the upcoming 4.0 wallet running on the improved Proof of Stake (PoS) network!

PIVX RANKED AMONG MOST ACTIVE ON GITHUB

Thanks to Bart Claeys for providing crypto followers with some interesting data about the Github activities of crypto developers.

Looking at the charts and data posted on his website, CryptoMiso, Pivians should be happy to know how active the PIVX devs have been in the last few months, as we know, working on the next release of the core client/desktop wallet, among other things.

Scrolling down, we can find PIVX ranked 16th, as of today, for unique commits contributed in the previous three months. In fact, PIVX devs have managed to push 287 of them, more than other well known crypto-projects.

DEV UPDATE: PIVX CORE WALLET v4.0 TESTNET

The binaries for testing the new Pivx Core client/wallet v4.0 are now available to download from Github.

As a reminder, these binaries are only usable on Testnet and not meant to be used for real transactions.

This phase of testing will be the last one before the actual release of the client.

As for the mainnet, synchronizing the blockchain can be quite tedious and, as for the mainnet, there's an alternative to the synchronization from scratch. It's called "snapshot" and it's a downloadable compressed file containing the full blockchain synchronized up to the specified date.

After downloading, you can use these instructions on how to use it. ⚠️ These instructions are for the mainnet snapshot and they do apply also to the testnet snapshot, as the procedure is the same; however, the links to downloads etc. do NOT apply for the testnet. Use the link provided only as specified above.

STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO COLD STAKING

"Cold staking" is a new feature implemented in the upcoming version 4.0 of the core client/wallet. It requires two PIVX wallets: one to hold the funds (this can be also a hardware wallet and does not need to be always online) and another one, the hot-node, to do the staking (this needs to be online 24/7).

The rewards will always go to the staked (external) address, the one holding the funds.
