Александръ Ивановичъ Купринъ прожилъ незаурядную жизнь. Его творчество выпало на нелёгкие периоды истории Российской Империи конца XIX — начала XX века и становления советской власти, что сделало его путь очень сложнымъ и насыщеннымъ, но даже въ самые смутные времена Купринъ не переставалъ творить. Въ его биографии чуднымъ образомъ переплелись радостные и трагические события, взлёты и разочарования, о нёмъ можно смело снимать приключенческое кино.

Купринъ — настоящий художникъ, громадный талантъ, правдивый и жизненно-конкретный, писавший только о томъ, что онъ самъ виделъ, пережилъ и перечувствовалъ. Въ центре его произведений обычно «средний» русский интеллигентъ — труженикъ, человекъ сердечный, совестливый, тяжко ранимый жизненными противоречиями. Во многомъ его произведения автобиографичны. Въ нихъ отображены его взгляды, его судьба, его ранимая съ детства душа.

Alexander Ivanovich Kuprin lived an extraordinary life. He worked at the end of the 19th – the beginning of the 20th centuries which was a difficult period in the history of the Russian Empire and later the formation of the Soviets – that made his path very difficult and eventful, but even during the most troubled of times Kuprin never ceased to write. Joyful and tragic events, ups and downs are so miraculously intertwined in his biography, one could film an adventure story about him.

Kuprin is a true artist, a great talent, truthful and vitally precise, who wrote only about what he saw, experienced and felt. The center of his works is primarily an «ordinary» Russian intellectual person — hard-working, warm-hearted, conscientious, gravely vulnerable to life’s contradictions. His works are in many ways autobiographical. They reflect his views, his fate, his soul ever vulnerable since childhood.

“Piterville” video restaurant is open all year round. We do our best to please ladies and gentlemen with not only high-quality dishes, but with a variety of them as well.

For example, this week our main course is classical, frolic videos picturing nobles and peasants. Our second course is the novel idea of Piterville Oscar’s. And the dessert is made of the sweetest cream collected for you from the summer literary cycle dedicated to “Dubrovsky” by Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin.

Don’t get angry if you cannot see some of your favourites in this selection. We aimed at paying attention to each character of this unfinished novel. Bon appétit!

Maslenitsa, also known as the Cheese Week in Christian tradition, is a week-long festival preceeding the Orthodox Lent and dating back to pre-Christian times. Symbolically welcomes springtime and is best known for the tradition of making pancakes throughout the week and having fun outside as well as visiting friends and relatives. Finishes with the ritual bonfire where the effigy of Winter, “Maslenitsa”, is burnt to the cheers of the crowd.

Each day of the week has its special name:
Monday — «Welcome»
Tuesday — «Fun»
Wednesday — «Sweet tooth»
Thursday — «Spree»
Friday — «Soiree at mother-in-law’s»
Saturday — «Party at sister-in-law’s»
Sunday — «Sunday of forgiveness»
