Yasin has KitKat bars A and B. When Yasin wants to open KitKat bar A, it took him a longer time to get it open whilst when he opened KitKat bar B, it was much easier. Explain in physics terms why this happens. (2 marks)

Solution :
The end of KitKat A’s packaging is a straight line thus when force is applied, there is more surface area present which produces less pressure (Pressure is inversely proportional to surface area). Hence, it is harder to open and requires more force.
The end of KitKat B’s packaging is a zigzag shape thus when force is applied between the peaks of the zigzags, there is less surface area which produces more pressure when opening it. Hence, it is easier to open because it requires less force.
