Did you know that Singapore's Semakau landfill 🏝 , which began operations in 1999, is expected to be filled by 2035?
😷Every year, almost 8 million tonnes of waste is added to the island, but we can all do our part to reduce this figure...by ♻️ RECYCLING! ♻️
✨Hold on!! We know you all love Earth as much as we do, but even recycling has rules:
DO
♻️check if your plastic is recyclable (applies to PET, HDPE and PP plastic)
♻️rinse food containers before recycling (and dry them thx!)
Please do NOT
❌recycle styrofoam or food-stained packagings
❌recycle food waste or e-waste (those require special bins)
❗️Did you know❗️
Certain pantries in PH have been equipped with recycling bins? 👀 The pantries included are the 23/B1, 23/1, 23/2, 23/4, 23/5 and 25/2!
🌱The more we recycle correctly, the more we can reduce the amount of waste sent to Semakau landfill🙌🏻
If you are unsure whether an item is recyclable, do not hesitate to check the government's CGS website!

On 1 Apr 2024 (Monday), F&S initiated an Ugly Food Rescue at the PH foyer to reuse and reduce food waste!♻️
😷Food wastage is a common issue in Singapore, where people often over-purchase food items, leading to the expiry of food purchased for household and commercial use alike! ♻️
What can you do?
♻️Spread awareness about purchasing more “ugly food” in supermarkets
♻️If you have extra food, extend an invitation to friends to enjoy a meal together!
♻️Look out for local & sustainable produce
🌱On 28 March 2024, Kayak & Clean @ PAssion Wave was organized to reduce pollutants on Jurong Lake, Singapore! 🙌🏻
We learnt about
🌱The negative impacts of littering in freshwater environments.
🌱The importance to take personal action to prevent pollution in our waterways
We hope you enjoyed these initiatives! PH F&S will be organizing more green initiatives in the future, so do look out for them!
