A tiny little sneak peek:

Welcome to our first themed post! π©In this post, we'd dive deep into the heart of FnS - the Gardening Interest Group, and how they repurpose stuff in PHπ±
Take-home Recyclable Pots πΈ
The Gardening IGLs had an idea - to let everyone have the chance to plant with their own hands. The sustainable way to do this? Plastic bottles.
Some who didn't manage to get their hands on plastic bottles settled for creative alternatives - Milo boxes, yoghurt cups...you name it! π‘
Cardboard Compostingπ¦
Gardening IG makes their own compost from a very unlikely material - cardboard.
Indeed, its relatively quick decomposing makes cardboard a handy source of carbon for the soil. Plus, the pros go on...odor-free, easy to use and most importantly, accessible.
Terrarium Stonesπͺ¨
Do you know that the stones in the previous FnS Terrarium Workshop were from PH's very own gardenβ
The Gardening IGLs still have stones to clear, so if you're interested, Gardening IG is definitely welcoming help!

Welcome to our second themed post! π© In this post, we'll be taking a look at the fluffy members of SG wildlife - the Smooth-coated Otters! ... and what to do if you see them π
The group of 4 otters was spotted trotting along Science Park Road on 30th September 2023, right outside PGP π¦¦π
π«Άπ»If you happen to see otters anywhere, here are a few DOs and DONTs!
DO
βοΈEnsure your pets are leashed to avoid scuffles
βοΈObserve at a distance, especially if you spot otter pups
DO NOT
β Use flash photography as the otters may be startled
β Feed them food, which may lead to behavioural changes
If there are any otter sightings, feel free to report them to Otterwatch on Facebook! π±This allows experts and conservationists to track their movement easily
Otters are an important part of the Singaporean ecosystem, and is also an indirect indicator of water qualityπ§Being listed as a Vulnerable species on the IUCN Red List, let us protect these cute friends of ours together! π¦¦

Discover Singapore's Nature Reserves: Dive into Fun Facts from Our Fabulous Four!πΎπ³

Singapore's largest nature reserve spans over 2,000 hectares of lush forest cover, a sprawling haven for diverse ecosystems.

Welcome to our fourth themed post! π©
Did you know that Singapore's Semakau landfill π , which began operations in 1999, is expected to be filled by 2035?
π·Every year, almost 8 million tonnes of waste is added to the island, but we can all do our part to reduce this figure...by β»οΈ RECYCLING! β»οΈ
β¨Hold on!! We know you all love Earth as much as we do, but even recycling has rules:
DO
β»οΈcheck if your plastic is recyclable (applies to PET, HDPE and PP plastic)
β»οΈrinse food containers before recycling (and dry them thx!)
Please do NOT
βrecycle styrofoam or food-stained packagings
βrecycle food waste or e-waste (those require special bins)
βοΈDid you knowβοΈ
Certain pantries in PH have been equipped with recycling bins? π The pantries included are the 23/B1, 23/1, 23/2, 23/4, 23/5 and 25/2!
π±The more we recycle correctly, the more we can reduce the amount of waste sent to Semakau landfillππ»
If you are unsure whether an item is recyclable, do not hesitate to check the government's CGS website!
