🪐 AI Tool Validates 118 Hidden Exoplanets in NASA's TESS Data

Astronomers at the University of Warwick have used a newly developed artificial intelligence pipeline to validate 118 previously unconfirmed exoplanets, including 31 entirely new detections, buried in data from NASA's Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS).

The AI system, called RAVEN (RAnking and Validation of ExoplaNets), scanned observations of more than 2.2 million stars collected during the first four years of the TESS mission, focusing on planets that orbit close to their host stars with periods shorter than 16 days.

"There was a technical bug that made the account look banned, but no one would ban one of The Beatles," Reddit said.

👩🏻‍🦳 Home System Lets Users Create Their Own Hair Dye

Beauty-tech company Zuvi introduced ColorBox, an at-home hair coloring system that can produce a custom dye in any color you choose.

Just like a printer, ColorBox uses three cartridges—yellow, blue, and red—along with a conditioner-based diluting cream.

Through a mobile app, you can pick from a library of 1,000+ preset shades or mix your own color from scratch. Once you've made your choice, ColorBox dispenses the exact amount of each component, and you blend it into a cream-textured base.

ColorBox is priced at $179, with shipping starting June 1st.

💰 Nvidia Is Losing Ground in China to Local Chipmakers

In 2025, Chinese data centers purchased approximately 4 million AI chips, including 2.2 million from Nvidia and 1.65 million from domestic companies.

Nvidia still dominates the global GPU market, but it's starting to lose one of its most important markets: China. Over the past five years, its share there has dropped from 95% to 55%.

✖️ The shift began in 2022, when the U.S. government restricted Nvidia from selling to China its most advanced chips, including the A100, H100, and H200. In response, the Chinese government launched incentives for building AI data centers, requiring companies to use locally made chips to qualify for state support.

💻 The biggest beneficiary so far has been Huawei, which shipped 812,000 chips last year, capturing about 20% of the market. Other Chinese players developing data center processors include T-Head (Alibaba), Kunlunxin (Baidu), and Cambricon.

Could Huawei challenge Nvidia on the global stage?

❤️ — Yes, it's possible
🔥 — Unlikely
