What we call method acting nowadays isn’t quite what Stanislavski conceived it to be. The method actually involves drawing from personal emotions and lived experiences to bring authenticity to a character. But somewhere along the way, this definition got muddled by hyperbolic profiles and cloying awards campaigns. Within that confusion, the idea of using the personal as the foundation of a character was lost. The body is now just a vessel.
