I remember speaking by phone with Bill Belichick a short few years ago.

I had been asked by Nick Saban to help him by writing a letter of warning to someone who was publishing an unauthorized book about him.

Nick told me Bill had a similar problem and wanted to speak with me about it.

Bill and I had one phone call.

We never met.

I also never met Nick in person but I did write the letter for him.

My fee???

I asked him to send me a signed photograph personalized for a dear friend at the time who was a big time fan of his and of Alabama. Nick’s office made sure my “fee” was paid. My friend was thrilled!!!

Belichick did not follow up with a request for specific action so we did not speak again.

He did ask me if I would confer with Tom Brady who was also facing a similar problem. Tom and I exchanged text messages but he apparently decided he did not need my help.

Tom and I never spoke by phone or otherwise.

While I did not meet in person Nick, Bill, or Tom, I did meet Terri Saban in person a couple of times. I never met Bill or Tom’s wives.

It is a small, small world.
