Calling out to all DPOs – there has been a recent surge in data breach notifications by companies to the PDPC involving critical vulnerability in MOVEit Transfer, a managed file transfer software.

DPOs are advised to develop internal mitigation and monitoring plans with your respective vendors to prevent any data breach if your companies are using the software. Just announced at #PDPWeek2023: Mrs Josephine Teo, Minister for Communications and Information, announces the IMDA-Google: PET x Privacy Sandbox. The collaboration allows Singapore businesses to test their solutions within IMDA's PET Sandbox, providing a secure environment and testing ground for pilot projects.

It’s Day 2 of #PDPWeek2023! During the IAPP Asia Privacy Forum, PDPC Commissioner highlighted in his keynote Singapore’s balanced approach in meeting the twin goals of data protection and risk mitigation, while allowing market innovation to take place.

To address concerns over data use, especially those of the most vulnerable, the PDPC will be consulting the public on how businesses can implement appropriate safeguards to ensure children’s data is being collected, used and protected adequately, and on the proposed Advisory Guidelines on the use of Personal Data in AI Recommendation and Decision Systems. More research into user experience (UX) and data usage within the metaverse is crucial to ensure immersive technologies such as extended reality (XR) prioritise user-centric design, transparency and privacy. To this, the TTC Labs team at Meta, in collaboration with the PDPC and IMDA, has launched a report that helps dive into data transparency and best practices in data privacy for the metaverse.
