Wearing the Niqab Among Women and in the Presence of Mahram Men
QUESTION:
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
In some cultures, it is customary for women to cover their faces even in the presence of their own mahrams.
Sheikh Ahmad Al-’Umari ḥafidhahullāh:
وعليكم السلام ورحمة الله وبركاته
This custom — whereby a woman covers her face in the presence of some of her mahrams — exists in certain regions of Yemen, particularly in areas like Rasab, Ar-Raydah, and other parts of Hadhramaut, as well as in regions I am not aware of. In these areas, a woman may cover her face even in front of her mahram, and sometimes even in front of her own husband, or other women.
This practice is contrary to the Shari'ah — it is against the Shari‘ah. Allah Almighty says in His noble Book: "And they should not display their beauty except to their husbands, or their fathers, or the fathers of their husbands..."
Such a custom reflects unnecessary hardship and exaggeration. Some women do not uncover their faces even in front of other women, their neighbours, and so on — and this goes against what is natural and against the Sunnah. It falls under what is termed tanattu‘ (excessiveness in religion).
The Prophet ﷺ said: "The extremists are doomed. The extremists are doomed."
We ask Allāh, the Most High, for wellbeing and safety.

In the days ahead, Ahlus-Sunnah stand at the forefront of two critical battles.
The first is an external battle against Kufr, wherein they warn Muslims against imitating the disbelievers by participating in pagan festivities such as Christmas and the innovated celebration of New Year’s Day.

The second is an internal battle, waged against the people of innovation, in which they caution the Ummah against the newly invented practices that are promoted and observed during the month of Rajab.

If someone asks you:
"Who created you?"
Say:
Allāh created me and everything that exists.
The proof for this is Allāh's saying:
اللَّهُ خَالِقُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
"Allāh created everything."
