Words of wisdom:
Your mother gave birth to you, O son of Adam, crying,
While those around you were laughing with joy.
So work righteously for yourself,
That when they cry on the day of your death,
You’ll be the one laughing and joyful.

Importance of seeking knowledge:
On the authority of Anas that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “The search for knowledge is an obligation laid on every Muslim, but he who commits it to those who are unworthy of it is like one who puts necklaces of jewels, pearls and gold on swine.” Ibn Majah transmitted it. Baihaqi transmitted it in Shu'ab al-iman up to the word “Muslim”, saying that this is a tradition whose text is well known but whose isnad is weak, it being transmitted by many ways all of which are weak.

Translation:
Abud-Darda (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "He who follows a path in quest of knowledge, Allah will make the path of Jannah easy to him. The angels lower their wings over the seeker of knowledge, being pleased with what he does. The inhabitants of the heavens and the earth and even the fish in the depth of the oceans seek forgiveness for him. The superiority of the learned man over the devout worshipper is like that of the full moon to the rest of the stars (i.e., in brightness). The learned are the heirs of the Prophets who bequeath neither dinar nor dirham but only that of knowledge; and he who acquires it, has in fact acquired an abundant portion."
[Abu Dawud and At- Tirmidhi].

Grow Your Beard!
Shaykh ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Bāz رحمه الله said:
… as such, shaving the beard is evil. It is obligatory to leave it, let it loose, and let it grow long, in accordance with the statement of al-Muṣṭafā ﷺ:
“Trim [your] moustaches, and leave [your] beards; oppose the polytheists.”
He ﷺ also said:
“Trim [your] moustaches, and leave [your] beards; oppose the Majūs (fire worshippers).”
The first is agreed upon [by al-Bukhārī and Muslim], and the second, Muslim narrated in [his] Ṣaḥīḥ. Also, in Ṣaḥīḥ [Muslim] it is narrated from Ibn ʿUmar that he said:
“The Rasūl commanded for the moustaches to be trimmed, and for the beards to be left.”
It is a calamity that this text is opposed by a huge number of those who are described with knowledge; teachers or otherwise. The obligation upon the people of knowledge is that they are a leading example in goodness, and that they grow their beards and have taqwā of Allāh such that seekers of knowledge follow them in example, and such that the laypeople follow them.
If they do the opposite of this, they will become an example in evil, and I – by Allāh – fear for them that they carry the likes of the sins of those who follow them in this, as they are callers by their actions to these sins. We ask Allāh to grant everyone guidance,

"Also, it is nice while seeking knowledge, that you have a single companion and not have plenty companions.
This companion, you will revise knowledge with him. You will explain to him and he will explain to you. You will clarify his faulty understanding to him and he will clarify your faulty understanding to you.
So, both of you will perfect each other."
