🌴 *Benefit from a Dream Interpretation on High Aspirations, Goals, Zeal, Burnout, and Steadfastness for Students of Knowledge* 🌴

This is the translation of a dream in English after it was asked and the Shaykh interpreted it in Arabic. I found the Shaykh’s advice beneficial for myself, and I’m sharing it in hopes that it will be of benefit to others as well, بإذن الله تعالى.

✉️ *Brother:*
Basically, I had this dream 5–6 years ago and I *saw one of the maraakiz of Yemen, al-Hami.* And I was sitting out on the ground and I had *a very big notebook and I was writing in it Tafseer of the Qur’aan.* I passed half-way, I was probably 3 quarters into the tafseer.

🎙️ *Ustaadh Abu Fajr’s Translation of the Dream حفظه الله:*

So the dream interpreter says:
> *Sitting in the company of the righteous raises the ambitions.*

🔍 What’s apparent is that:
It comes to you at times *high aspirations*, and then you are taken by a state of fatigue where you would lose the zeal. And this is what happens *every time you push to something with the zeal, you end up losing and burning out.*

So he says, upon you is:

▪️to make du‘ā,
▪️to accompany the *mujtahideen* (people who are hardworking),
▪️and to create al-hadaf like a goal, a plan.

And he mentions that:
> *The person that makes al-hadaf (goal/plan) produces.*

So he said, for example, give yourself a goal:

• to memorize the Qur’an,
• or to memorize the books of ḥadeeth: Riyaadh As-Saliheen, Buloogh Al-Maraam — the likes of these beneficial works, of these mutoon (texts).

And he also mentions that:
> *If you remain without a goal seeking knowledge, you would come out with a little attainment.*
Ya‘ani, your situation will be like someone who just attends a lecture to lecture. He says not to degrade listening to the lectures, but in terms of *students of knowledge he is trying to obtain a goal. So he plans something else,*
> *but if he doesn’t have al-hadaf (a plan) then his haseela (attainment) will be da'eefa, little.*

For example, you want to attain a goal or a particular science.
So you’re going to:
• take with a teacher and
• you’re going to review it after completing it, and
• then move onto another book until you have perfected it or perfected some of it.

And then the second year, the same thing, a new science, and he perfects.

And he also says:
▪️ to give time for acts of Ibaadah (worship), voluntary and supererogatory acts.
> *For verily a person reduces that [acts of Ibaadah], his fruits will be little.*
So it is upon the person to do supererogatory acts, Ibaadah, du‘ā.
> *It’ll aid him in acting upon his knowledge and it will show, bring out, in front of Allāh his truthfulness. And Allāh سبحانه وتعالى opens doors for you.*

And he says that:
🔍 *The symbol of the notebook* is *losing zeal and burning out.*
Ya‘ani, *every time you push forward in your aspirations, you end up losing the zeal.* And he says in particular when this happens you end up traveling.

▪️ *So it is upon you to return back to what you were up on, and being steadfast and firm and confident and continue upon on that. And you’ll see the khayr.*

End of the Dream Interpretation, ولله الحمد.

🎙️ *Taught by:* Ustaadh Faisal Abu Sulaymaan حفظه الله

I felt this resource complements the Shaykh’s advice, as Ustaadh Faisal Abu Sulaymaan حفظه الله discusses:

▪️The principles and manners of students of knowledge

▪️The methodology a student of knowledge should have

▪️The curriculum to follow

▪️Pitfalls and mistakes

▪️3 levels of studying the deen

▪️Types of Islamic sciences

▪️Ways and levels of studying sciences and books
▪️Methods of note-taking and reviewing, etc.

_

🗒️ *Summary – Action Points*

▪️Make du‘ā regularly in regards to talabul īlm and Ibaadah.

▪️Stay in the company of the mujtahideen (hardworking students of knowledge) and righteous people.

▪️Have high aspirations

▪️Always set a clear hadaf (goal/plan) in seeking knowledge.

▪️Give yourself structured goals (e.g., Qur’an, Riyaadh As-Saliheen, Buloogh al-Maraam, other mutoon).
Note: It is best to refer back to the teacher for advice or to follow the curriculum they suggest, إن شاء الله.

▪️Without goals, attainment (haseela) remains da'eefah (weak).

▪️Take from a teacher, review after finishing to perfect it or something of it and then move to another book/science.

We ask الله سبحانه وتعالى put barakah in this advice, make it sincerely for His sake, and reward the one who advised it, and benefit the one who wrote it, the one who helped convey it, and everyone who reads or comes across it.

💧The Grief of Loving this World💧

قال ابن القيم رحمه الله: محب الدنيا لا ينفك من ثلاث: هم لازم، وتعب دائم، وحسرة لا تنقضي.

إغاثة اللهفان لابن القيم (1/ 37)

🎙️ Ibn al-Qayim (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

📍"The lovers of this world are not spared from three things:

°They are always in need
°They are always tired
°They have endless heartbeat
