As for my Muslim friends who committed sins, I came to realise that despite their mistakes, they still had something that no disbeliever has: īmān. I disliked their sins, advised them where I could, and wanted good for them. At the same time, as my priorities changed and theirs often remained the same, many of us naturally drifted apart and went our separate ways.
The same principle affected how I viewed family members. I still loved and appreciated their kindness, generosity, and good treatment. Family is family. But I learned to separate loving someone's good character from approving of their religious beliefs and practices. I maintain family ties from a distance as we don't see eye to eye on fundamental issues.
Even many of the activities I used to enjoy started to look different. It wasn't necessarily the swimming, shopping, theme parks, or funfairs themselves. Rather, I started noticing what often came with them. The music, the free mixing, the immodesty, the heedlessness, and other things that displease Allah became harder and harder to ignore.
As a result, places I once looked forward to going to gradually lost their appeal. Sometimes I would find myself more bothered by the environment than excited by the activity itself. Things that I once saw as harmless fun became associated with matters that Allah dislikes. So although I might still enjoy the activity in principle, I began to dislike much of what surrounded it. My heart no longer felt comfortable in many of those environments, and over time my interests naturally shifted towards gatherings and activities that were cleaner and more beneficial.
Another thing this principle taught me was that many people have things completely backwards. They become extremely harsh towards sinful Muslims, yet very soft towards open disbelievers. They get worked up over a Muslim's sins while barely giving any thought to shirk and kufr. Salafiyyah taught me to put things in their proper place.
It taught me that love and hate should not be based on race, nationality, tribe, postcode, language, football clubs, family ties, personalities, or worldly interests.
Rather, they should be based on what Allah loves and what Allah hates.
It taught me that our loyalties should not be built upon worldly affiliations, and that we shouldn't blindly follow or align ourselves with people simply because they are successful, intelligent, wealthy, popular, or influential.
And it taught me that barā' is not just for people who oppose us personally. Rather, it is connected to a person's stance towards truth and falsehood, Sunnah and bid'ah, guidance and misguidance.
Looking back, this principle changed the way I viewed people, friendships, relationships, priorities, and even my own emotions. It forced me to stop looking at things through the lens of habit, culture, and personal attachment, and instead ask a much more important question:
What does Allah love, and what does Allah hate?
For that, alhamdulillāh.

Character Over Charm
Marry a woman who will protect your dignity even when she is hurt. A woman who covers your faults and guards your private matters regardless. One who understands that marriage is built on trust and that exposing private struggles to the public rarely heals what is broken.
Do not marry a spiteful woman who turns marital problems into lasting scars by using secrets, weaknesses, and malicious gossip as weapons—seeking an audience rather than a resolution; A woman with no sense of boundaries who takes what should remain within the walls of the home and turns it into public discussion, humiliation, and resentment.
The wise woman does not air dirty laundry for public display. She addresses problems with sincerity, seeks private counsel when necessary, and strives to preserve the honour of her family, even in times of disagreement.
When a marriage begins to falter, character matters more than charm. The person you marry should be someone who protects your honour when it is easiest to destroy it.
When a marriage is thriving, almost anyone can appear loving and supportive. A person's true character is only revealed when difficulties arise, emotions run high, and the relationship is put to the test.

If someone says to you:
"What is the right that Allāh has over His servants?"
Say: The right that Allāh has over His servants is that they should worship Him alone and not mix/Associate any partners in worship with Him.
The proof for this is:
The hadith where Mu’aadh
Reported that the Prophet ﷺ said:
“The right that Allāh has over the servants is that they worship Him alone and not mix/Associate any partners with Him (in worship). And the right the servants have over Allāh is that He should not punish anyone that doesn’t mix/Associate partners with Him in worship.”
Agreed upon.

Narrated Mujahid that Abdullah bin 'Umar said:
"Allāh's Messenger ﷺ took hold of my shoulder and said,
"Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveler/wayfarer."
Ibn 'Umar used to say, “In the evening do not expect [to live until] the morning, and in the morning do not expect [to live until] the evening. Take [advantage of] your health before times of sickness, and [take advantage of] your life before your death.”

If someone asks you:
"What is Shirk (Polytheism)?"
Say: It is when you worship something other than Allāh. So every act that we do as worship to Allāh, if it is done for someone other than Allāh, then that is Shirk (Polytheism).
The proof for this is Allāh’s saying:
وَاْعْبُدُواْ اللَّهَ وَلَا تُشْرِكُواْ بِهِ شَيْئًا
"And worship Allāh alone and do not mix/Associate any partners with Him (in worship)."

A poem by Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyya refuting Christian beliefs
O worshippers of Christ, we have a question for you — we seek its answer from those among you who understand.
If God was killed by the actions of some people, then they killed Him — so what kind of god is this?
Was He pleased with what they did to Him? If so, then glad tidings to them, for they attained His pleasure.
But if He was displeased by what they did to Him, then their power overcame Him when they weakened His strength.
Was creation left without a God —
One who hears and answers whoever calls upon Him?
Were the seven heavens emptied when He lay beneath the earth,
covered by the dust above Him?
Were all the worlds left without a God to govern them, while His hands were nailed?
How did the angels abandon Him,
instead of aiding Him, when they heard His crying?
How could pieces of wood bear the True God when He was fastened upon them?
How could iron reach Him,
touch Him, and cause Him harm?
How could the hands of His enemies reach Him, and strike the back of His head?
Did Christ return to life by Himself,
or was the One who gave him life another Lord?
How astonishing is a grave that enclosed a god; and even more astonishing is a womb that contained Him.
He remained there for nine months in darkness, nourished by blood.
Then he emerged from the womb as a small infant, weak, opening his mouth for the breast.
He ate, then drank, then did what follows from that — is this what you call a god?
Exalted is Allah above the falsehood of the Christians; they will all be questioned about what they fabricated.
O worshippers of the cross, for what reason is the one who cast it down condemned while it is honoured and kissed?
Would sound minds not judge that it should be broken and burned, along with whoever invented such a thing?
Since God was forced upon it,
and His hands were fastened to it with nails?
Then that object is truly cursed —
so throw it away; do not kiss it when you see it.
The Lord of all creation was humiliated upon it, yet you worship it — so you have become among His enemies.
If you honour it because it supposedly carried the Lord of all servants and He was upon it…
Then why do you not prostrate to every grave, since the grave contained your Lord within it?
So, servant of Christ, wake up! For this is its beginning, and this is its end.

A request from our Ustadh Abu ishaq
Rather than going dormant between events, perhaps the group can be used to help find a suitable property in East London to finally establish Masjid As-Sahabah.
Location: Anywhere in East London, preferably an area where there's a need for a Salafi masjid.
Budget: Under £30,000 per annum. The larger and more open the space, the better.
Use: Ideally a property with F1 use class, but any premises that could reasonably operate as an educational or community centre would work.
If you come across anything suitable, please share.
Also, if you know a good solicitor who can assist with the necessary paperwork, please share.
