Friday – The Blessed Day
Narrated by Anas ibn Mālik (may Allāh be pleased with him):
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال:
« أَكْثِرُوا الصَّلاةَ عَلَيَّ يَوْمَ الجُمُعَةِ وَلَيْلَةَ الجُمُعَةِ، فَمَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيَّ صَلاةً، صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ عَشْرًا »
“Increase your prayers upon me on the day of Friday and the night of Friday, for whoever sends one prayer upon me, Allāh will send ten upon him.”
[📚 Ṣaḥīḥ al-Jāmiʿ - al-Albānī (1209)]

💐 Beware of neglecting the hour of acceptance on Friday

Narrated by Anas ibn Mālik (may Allāh be pleased with him):
عن النبي ﷺ قال:
« التمسُوا الساعةَ التي تُرجَى في يومِ الجمُعَةِ، بعدَ العصرِ إلى غيبوبةِ الشمس »
“Seek the hour that is hoped for on Friday - after ʿAṣr until the sun sets.”
[📚 Ṣaḥīḥ al-Tirmidhī (489)]

Imām al-Sakhāwī (may Allāh have mercy on him) said:
الصلاة على النبي ﷺ من أبرك الأعمال وأفضلها، وأكثرها نفعًا في الدين والدنيا.
Sending blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ is among the most blessed, virtuous, and beneficial deeds - both in religion and in worldly life.
[📚 al-Qawl al-Badīʿ (109)]

And Imām Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allāh have mercy on him) said:
الصلاة على النبي ﷺ سببٌ لـ:
Sending blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ is a means for:

• إجابة الدعاء
- the acceptance of duʿā

- forgiveness of sins

- Allāh’s sufficiency in one’s concerns

• ولقرب العبد من نبيِّه ﷺ يوم القيامة closeness to the Prophet on the Day of Judgement
[📚 Jalāʾ al-Afhām (1/445)]

O Allāh, send Your peace, blessings, and mercy upon our Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ, his family, companions, and all who follow them in goodness until the Day of Judgement.

🔖Notes:

• Three benefits of the Tawbah:

1. Every male and female believer requires repentance all the time even if they assume that they don't have any major sins

As the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ used to seek forgiveness 70 times in a day

Narrated Abu Huraira

I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying." By Allah! I ask for forgiveness from Allah and turn to Him in repentance more than seventy times a day."
[📚Sahih al-Bukhari, 6307
In-Book Reference: Book 80, Hadith 4]

{ لَّقَد تَّابَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِیِّ وَٱلۡمُهَـٰجِرِینَ وَٱلۡأَنصَارِ ٱلَّذِینَ ٱتَّبَعُوهُ فِی سَاعَةِ ٱلۡعُسۡرَةِ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا كَادَ یَزِیغُ قُلُوبُ فَرِیقࣲ مِّنۡهُمۡ ثُمَّ تَابَ عَلَیۡهِمۡۚ إِنَّهُۥ بِهِمۡ رَءُوفࣱ رَّحِیمࣱ }
[Surah At-Tawbah: 117]

"Allâh has forgiven the Prophet ( ﷺ
), the Muhâjirûn (Muslim emigrants who left their homes and came to Al-Madinah) and the Ansâr (Muslims of Al-Madinah) who followed him (Muhammad ﷺ
) in the time of distress (Tabûk expedition), after the hearts of a party of them had nearly deviated (from the Right Path), but He accepted their repentance. Certainly, He is unto them full of Kindness, Most Merciful."

2. From the most manifest signs of the acceptance of the Repentance is that the state of the individual becomes better than the state they were in before the Repentance

{ إِلَّا مَن تَابَ وَءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ عَمَلࣰا صَـٰلِحࣰا فَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ یُبَدِّلُ ٱللَّهُ سَیِّـَٔاتِهِمۡ حَسَنَـٰتࣲۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورࣰا رَّحِیمࣰا }
[Surah Al-Furqān: 70]

"Except those who repent and believe (in Islâmic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds; for those, Allâh will change their sins into good deeds, and Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."

Ibn Jarīr mentions (and this is the clearest of interpretations of this Āyah)
"The meaning of this Āyah is: Allah will substitute the evil deeds that one used to do with good deeds"

Ibn Al Qayyim mentions in Tareeq al Hijratayn:

"It's not those evil deeds turn good but the person is determined not to return to
that sin"

3. We remember the favour of Allāh upon us

{ أَفَلَا یَتُوبُونَ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَیَسۡتَغۡفِرُونَهُۥۚ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورࣱ رَّحِیمࣱ }
[Surah Al-Māʾidah: 74]

"Will they not turn with repentance to Allâh and ask His Forgiveness? For Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."

My brothers in Islām, look at this manner of presenting this Ayah in the Qur'ān, its gentle manner.

By Allāh we become amazed at the state of many of us, we have indulged in worldly life.

Verily death doesn't seek permission, it strikes at any moment.

It is a must that we frequently remember to seek forgiveness and repentance from Allāh.

QnA (Sh. Abdullāh Khawlānī)

Question 1:

Does the hadith about the repentance 70 times, does it apply to the Major Sins or does there have to be a specific tawbah for the major sins?

Answer: (Shaykh Abdullāh Lamh Al Khawlānī)

When it comes to the major sins, the individual must seek specific repentance for them following the obligations and conditions regarding the Tawbah, and they are:

1. To cease from the sin entirely

2. To have remorse over that sin

3. And to have a strong will to never return to it

If the sin consisted of taking someone's rights, the rights must be given back

As for the hadiths, it is a position that one must be in at all times and not specifically when a sin is done.

Question 2:

What is the ruling of Salatul Tawbah, and how do you pray it?

Answer:

The Narration that mentions salaatul Tawbah doesn't mention exactly how it is prayed

The Tawbah occurs by way of what has preceded (the conditions)

And if the person were to seek repentance in any prayer he is in

Question 3:

Are the sins that are repented from, are they removed from the scrolls or do they stay there?

Answer:

The Tawbah removes what comes before it (from sins)

Question 4:

How does one stay consistent in their tawbah and seek forgiveness and stay firm upon it?

Answer:

Allahumma Bārik, very important question,

The greatest method is that one recognises that Shaytan is our enemy

{ إِنَّ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنَ لَكُمۡ عَدُوࣱّ فَٱتَّخِذُوهُ عَدُوًّاۚ إِنَّمَا یَدۡعُوا۟ حِزۡبَهُۥ لِیَكُونُوا۟ مِنۡ أَصۡحَـٰبِ ٱلسَّعِیرِ }
[Surah Fāṭir: 6]

"Surely, Shaitân (Satan) is an enemy to you, so take (treat) him as an enemy. He only invites his Hizb (followers) that they may become the dwellers of the blazing Fire."

Also, the person should frequently return to the repentance of Allāh such as

One should also ask Allāh to make them firm, as Allāh is the one who covers the servant, so the person must be wary that Allāh may expose them.

Question 5:

Do you have to ask for forgiveness for sins individually or is it possible to ask for forgiveness for all sins

Answer:

Allāh commanded to repent to him some that you may be successful, so to limit it requires evidence.

For example if, someone committed three sins, as long as the conditions are met, then they will be forgiven

Notice:

Many of the people will have major sins from the illnesses of the heart, so the obligation of tawbah is upon them.

Some people believe that tawbah is only for things that are manifest such as drinking alcohol etc.

Praying behind someone who shaves their beard and a Musbil

Ask Yourself…

Ask Yourself: What kind of Muslim sees his brother ignorant — yet he doesn’t strive to teach him?

Ask Yourself: What kind of Muslim sees his brother in a situation he’d dislike for himself — yet his heart doesn’t hurt for him?

Ask Yourself: What kind of Muslim fills his stomach with fine food, while knowing his brother can’t afford even one-tenth of that?

Ask Yourself: What kind of Muslim sees his brother struggling in class — and finds amusement instead of offering support?

Ask Yourself: What kind of Muslim hears that his brother is ill — and doesn’t even check up on him?

Ask Yourself: What kind of Muslim sees his brother lonely — and doesn’t wish to accompany him or make him feel seen?

Ask Yourself: What kind of Muslim watches his brother struggle — and can’t offer even a few words of motivation?

Ask Yourself: What kind of Muslim knows his brother needs help — yet can’t spare even a few seconds to make duʿāʾ for him?

Ask Yourself: What kind of Muslim sees his brother fall into sin — and doesn’t rush to save him from the anger of Allāh?

Ask Yourself: What kind of Muslim wears new, perfumed clothes — yet doesn’t even wish his struggling brothers could have the same?

Ask Yourself: What kind of Muslim hears of his brother’s pain — yet his heart feels nothing?

Ask Yourself: What kind of Muslim are you?

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Non of you truly believe until you love for your brother (and sister) what you love for yourself.” [Bukhārī]
