Police are now admitting that Tetsuya Yamagami planned the attack for around a year, he worked for the Japanese Navy, and he had originally planned to use a bomb but only wanted to target Abe so changed plans. But the interesting factor was this: He wanted to kill Abe because of his connection with the Moonies or the Unification church.

All of this lead me here: Trump, Pompeo, and Pence seem to have ties to the Moonies in Japan.
