The Gujarat government has issued a circular clarifying that Buddhism has to be considered a separate religion and any conversions from Hinduism to Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism would require prior approval of the district magistrate concerned under the provisions of the Gujarat Freedom of Religion Act, 2003.

Whooping cough or pertussis cases are being reported in several countries, with de@ths reported in China, Philippines, Czech Republic and Netherlands and outbreaks in countries including US and UK. Thirteen deaths were reported in China in January and February, with 32,380 cases reported, over 20 times higher than last year, authorities stated. At least 54 de@ths were recorded in the Philippines!
