A Russian frigate fired flares that passed within "a matter of metres" of a Danish military helicopter. No warning or radio contact was given beforehand. Russia has "increased its willingness to take risks in terms of how far it is prepared to go."

Denmark has no plans to seek NATO Article 4 or 5 consultations over the incident.
