We, who are immersed in the waves of many sins, are not worthy to praise you, Holy Melchizedek, King of righteousness, King of peace, without father, without mother, without genealogy, but wishing to be worthy, like Abraham once was, of your blessing, we lift up to God from the depths of our hearts the song: Alleluia!

Ascending to the heights of goodness, Holy Prophet Moses, you were deemed worthy to see the Radiance of God, receiving the tablets given by God; and carrying within you the gift of writing, you became the honorable praise of the Prophets and the great mystery of the true faith.

Chosen by God for prophetic service, we praise the holiness of your life and your miracles, Prophet of God Moses, glorifying the Creator and Lord for your deeds, that you brought heavenly providence for the salvation of the human race, shining with ardent zeal for the Almighty Lord. And you, who have boldness before the majesty of the Holy Trinity, help us with your heavenly intercession, and we call upon you: Rejoice, Holy Moses, honorable and glorious Prophet, who sees God!

Chosen by God for the office of high priest, holy and glorious prophet Aaron, glorifying the Lord who has glorified you, we raise songs of praise to you, as the first bishop of the Most High, for you now stand before God and offer Him sacrifices and burnt offerings, and we cry out to you: Rejoice, Holy Prophet Aaron, high priest of the Lord and first Archbishop of the Most High God. https://orthodoxreflections.com/akathist-to-saint-aaron-the-high-priest/

The so-called “era of modern contraception” did not begin until 1960, when both the birth control pill and intrauterine device (IUD) became widely available. Without the “pill” and the IUD, the 1960’s would have had a much different zeitgeist. Maybe there would still have been drugs and rock ‘n’ roll, but sexual promiscuity would have been just a problematic as in prior generations. However, because technology had made babies optional, by the end of the decade, sex had become a recreational activity. Today, the fruits of separating sex from procreation are all around us. We live in a vast, failed sociological experiment that few moderns even recognize the novelty of. Wasn’t it always the primary goal of life to have as much “good sex” as possible without the “consequence” of a baby? Even if that “good sex” is found in perversions, such as in copulating with an AI-controlled sex robot?

As taught by Christ, the Apostles and the early Church Fathers, Salvation and Deification require the salvific synergy of faith, good works and God’s grace. Love and humility are also necessary, as this is the frequency in which God works (St. Paisios, 20th century). We also need to worship God in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). The Orthodox understanding of this type of worship means with a sincere heart, with honour and gratitude, not by merely following outward rituals or traditions, but grounded in the truth of God’s word. No human being except the Godman, Jesus Christ, has the perfection of these virtues, but it is not their perfection that leads us to salvation; it is the sincere struggle for their acquisition. Because of our fallen nature, this struggle needs divine grace and assistance to succeed; and according to Orthodoxy, this necessary helping hand is found in all its fullness in the Orthodox Church. https://orthodoxreflections.com/part-vi-of-the-western-series-love-faith-works-and-destiny/

He who was an angel in the flesh, the foundation of the prophets, the second Forerunner of Christ’s coming, the great Elijah, who sent Elisha gifts from above, drives away sickness and cleanses the lepers. For this reason, he brings healing to those who honor him. https://orthodoxreflections.com/akathist-to-saint-prophet-elisha/

Seeing the wealth of Job’s virtues, the enemy of the righteous plotted to steal it, and breaking the tower of the body, he did not steal the treasure of the spirit; for he found the soul of the blameless one armed, and emptying me, he enslaved me. Therefore, before the end, meet me, deliver me from the deceitful one, Savior, and save me. https://orthodoxreflections.com/akathist-to-righteous-job-the-long-suffering/

How much are you supposed to renounce? The answer is absolutely everything. You have never given up enough. The narrow way is always narrower than you think. There is always something else that you are still holding onto, and you cannot have eternal life unless you let it go. https://orthodoxreflections.com/the-narrow-way-is-always-narrower-than-you-think/

Apostolic succession was established by Christ, who ordained His Twelve Apostles. To succeed them in the mission of the growing Church, “The Twelve” ordained Bishops as leaders, Priests as celebrants of the Divine Liturgy, and Deacons as servers. In turn, the Bishops ordained their successors and overseers. Development of Church governance was necessary because, even while being ruthlessly persecuted, the Church continued to advance and grow. Since the Roman Empire was divided into provinces, each with its own governor, the Church organized itself along the same lines; and the Bishops, all of whom had been ordained exactly the same way and with the same ecclesial authority, fell into four different administrative categories: Rural Bishops for medium-sized cities and their surrounding regions, Metropolitan Bishops for larger cities and their regions, Archbishops for states and provinces, and Patriarchal Bishops for large areas or countries, called “sees.” https://orthodoxreflections.com/part-vii-of-the-western-series-papal-apostacy-supremacy-and-infallibility/

Chosen to sit on the throne of your father David, thou blessed by God Prophet and King Solomon, you received from God the light of faith and piety, shining like the sun, and for the whole Christian world you were a vigilant guardian, bringing joy to righteous people. We, blessing the deeds and labors of your reign, being lifted up by God to heaven and glorifying the Lord of glory, cry out to you with warm love: Rejoice, blessed Prophet and King Solomon, prepare us with wisdom for eternal unity with our Lord God! https://orthodoxreflections.com/akathist-to-king-saint-and-prophet-solomon/

🇺🇸 The anti-Orthodox narrative is accelerating.

From mainstream media smears to “ecumenical” pressure campaigns, voices are working overtime to paint traditional Orthodoxy as “extremist,” “divisive,” or even “dangerous.”

New on Orthodox Reflections:Akathist to the Holy Martyrs Manuel, Savel, and Ismael
(The Three Holy Brothers martyred in Persia under Julian the Apostate, 362 AD)These valiant brothers, sent as peace envoys by Emperor Julian himself, boldly confessed Christ before the pagan fire-worshippers, endured cruel tortures with joy, and received the crown of martyrdom together in the flames. Their love for Christ was stronger than brotherly blood, stronger than fear of death. Now they stand before the Throne of God, praying for all who call upon them in faith — especially for courage in persecution, for unity among brethren, and for strength to confess Orthodoxy without compromise. 🇺🇦 Metropolitan Onuphry of Ukraine – The Man the West Must Hide

While Western media floods the airwaves with stories about “Russian aggression” against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, one man stands quietly in the way of their narrative:

His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, Primate of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC).

☦️ He leads the Church that historically unites millions of Ukrainian faithful with roots going back to St. Vladimir’s baptism in 988.

☦️ He has never blessed war, never called for violence, and consistently pleads for peace and dialogue.

☦️ He refused to stand when Zelensky entered the Rada in 2022 – not out of hatred, but because he will not mix the altar with political theater.

☦️ Under his leadership, the UOC has remained independent from Moscow since 2022, yet still the government raids monasteries, seizes cathedrals, and drafts clergy.

Why does the West ignore him or smear him as a “Moscow puppet”?

Because his very existence destroys the black-and-white fairy tale they need to sell: that there is only one “good” Orthodox Church in Ukraine (the state-created OCU) and one “evil” one controlled by the Kremlin.

Metropolitan Onuphry is living proof that millions of Ukrainians want neither Constantinople’s interference nor Moscow’s administration – they simply want to pray in the Church of their fathers, in peace.

The more monasteries are stormed and priests arrested, the clearer it becomes: the real target is not “Russian influence.”

The real target is authentic Orthodoxy that refuses to salute political power.

☦️ The Second Coming of Christ and the Last Judgment: Are We Ready?

“Behold, He comes with the clouds, and every eye will see Him” (Rev 1:7).

Dear brothers and sisters,

When the Lord Jesus Christ returns in glory, it will not be as the humble Child of Bethlehem, nor as the suffering Servant on the Cross, but as the fearful Judge of the living and the dead. The heavens will be rolled up like a scroll, the elements will melt with fervent heat, and every human soul—from Adam to the last person born—will stand before His throne.

There will be no place to hide.

No excuse will stand.

No repentance after death.

The books will be opened.

Our words, thoughts, and deeds—every idle word, every secret sin, every act of love or hatred—will be revealed in the light of His countenance.

Yet this same fearful Judge is the One who stretched out His arms on the Cross for us. The One who desires not the death of the sinner, but that he should turn and live.

☦️ Now is the time of mercy.

After the Second Coming—only justice.

Let us fall on our knees today.

Let us confess, repent, pray, fast, give alms, forgive, and love while we still have time.

“Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.” (Matt 25:13)
