Merging this process into a unique 'cradle to grave' unique identifier that imitates both Estonian and Indian models is an affront to British society, our values, and it must be buried immediately.
If the UK Government really cared about the welfare of newborns and their parents, they would not introduce such a system that would be an open invitation for cybercriminals, also considering how high the UK ranks in Europe and the rest of the world when it comes to cybersecurity incidents.

Ministry of Justice outdated legal aid IT systems remain vulnerable to cyberattacks even after a £50m investment prior to a breach first identified in April 2025.
We've highlighted the Legal Aid Agency data breach on more than more occasion.
It was revealed to the Public Affairs Committee (PAC) that the attackers first accessed the Legal Aid Agency (LAA) system as early as December 2024.
National ID of non-UK applicants as well as their partners also ended up in the stolen tranche dating back to 2007.
