OpenWebRX+ 1.2.27 packages for Ubuntu and Debian are now available from the repository. This release adds VDL2 aircraft message decoding (via DumpVDL2) and the local repeaters display (via RepeaterBook.com). The repeaters are shown on the map, and also as bookmarks. The repeater bookmarks can be enabled globally (via "Settings | General | Display") or per-profile. See below for all the changes.

- Added VDL2 aircraft protocol decoder, using DumpVDL2.
- Added standard VDL2 frequencies to the default bookmarks.
- VDL2 data is shown both as text and as map markers.
- Added repeater search via RepeaterBook.com.
- Added range setting (km) for showing repeaters in.
- Repeaters are shown both on the map and as bookmarks.
- Fixed non-APRS (YSF, etc) markers not showing up.
- Further improved parsing EIBI schedules.
- Simplified a lot of JavaScript code.
Map showing ADSB-reported flights. Common database is used to track flight data from multiple sources (HFDL, VDL2, ADSB).
OpenWebRX+ 1.2.28 packages for Ubuntu and Debian are now available from the repository. This release imports the latest backend changes from Jakob Ketterl's CSDR development branch and adds ADSB aircraft message decoding (via Dump1090). The aircraft are now shown with shadows indicating their altitudes. The OSM map added layers for maritime features and weather (US only for now). See below for all the changes.

- DumpHFDL, DumpVDL2, and Dump1090 now available from Jakob's repository.
- Added ADSB aircraft protocol decoder, using Dump1090 and ExecModule.
- Added AircraftManager storing data from all aircraft decoders.
- Added DumpHFDL, DumpVDL2, Dump1090 to recommended packages.
- Added Mode-S (ADSB) message parser by Jakob Ketterl.
- Added OpenSeaMap and WeatherRadar Leaflet layers by Stanislav Lechev.
- Added shadows to aircraft on the map, based on altitudes.
- Improved aircraft message display, common for all three decoders.
- Fixed OpenWebRX service hanging up when stopped.
- More fixes

This fax image may look bad, but it is in fact a grayscale image obtained without any post-processing that OWRX+ normally does. The ability to receive proper grayscale images is coming soon.
And this is the final result, a satellite photo by fax.
OpenWebRX+ 1.2.29 packages for Ubuntu and Debian are now available from the repository. This release fixes ISM decoder, adds much better FAX decoder that is now able to decode grayscale images, and optimizes a lot of things in CSDR. There are now configurable aircraft retention times and FAX options.

- Added worldwide OpenWeatherMap support (needs key).
- Added NFM to SSTV underlying modes (needs testing).
- Added configurable FAX options (post-processing, etc).
- Added configurable aircraft data expiration times.
- Improved aircraft data maintenance and merging.
- Improved SWL bookmarks generation (via EIBI).
- Improved FAX decoding, can receive photos now.
- Changed FAX bookmarks to be 1.9kHz below carrier.
- Dropped FAX input frequency to 12kHz.
- Optimized SSTV, FAX, RTTY, and CW decoders.
- Fixed ISM parser with correct ColorCache object.
- ADSB airplanes are red now, VDL2/HFDL are blue.
NOTE:
OWRX+ only displays weather in the OpenStreetMap mode. Also, without OpenWeatherMap key, OWRX+ will only show weather in the USA. In order to display worldwide weather, register at openweathermap.org and enter your key as shown.
First ACARS message received (but there does appear to be something wrong with the underlying NFM decoder)
The new SoapySDRPlay3 0.8.5 packages are now available from the repository. This version includes the latest changes from the original SoapySDRPlay3 sources, including High Dynamic Resolution (HDR) mode. I have also improved the reliability of profile changes and fixed the AGC.

- Imported latest changes from the original code repository.
- Added High Dynamic Resolution (HDR), available on RSPdx.
- Now releasing the lock while waiting for a bandwidth change.
- Only resetting streams after bandwidth change happened.
- Now updating entire AGC config.
Background HFDL decoding from multiple ground stations, coming soon.
Receiving a fax through a lot of HF interference today.
Very few airplanes in the air today, as tropical storm Lee approaches landfall.

If anyone feels capable of building OpenWebRX+ SD card images for RaspberryPi, that everyone else can use, please, step forward. The last public one has been built a while ago (1.2.19?) and there appears to be demand for them. I will host your SD card image.
Semi-final display of the last received aircraft messages on the map.
A very old but still interesting FAQ on digital signal modulations.
