Texan Jailed for 15 Months over Covid-19/Bio Weapon “Hoax” on Social Media
A Texas man has been given the federal prison sentence for falsely claiming on social media to have paid someone infected with Covid to lick items at a grocery store, authorities said.
Christopher Charles Perez, 40, was found guilty on two counts – for violating a federal law that criminalizes false information and hoaxes related to biological weapons, according to the US Attorney’s Office.
Perez posted two threatening messages on Facebook in April of 2020, according to evidence presented at the trial – he had faced up to 5-years in prison.
