As you know, the OpenBLD.net ecosystem consists of several subsystems, with the main ones being ADA and RIC: Adapted and Stricted. RIC operates on a different mechanism than ADA and also supports Personal DNS Profiles (PDP) for DoH.
What’s changing?
Until now, most major and cutting-edge updates have been focused on ADA. In the coming quarter (or at least in the second half of the year), I plan a complete overhaul of the RIC subsystem, as it currently faces several issues, including legacy-related challenges.
⚠ What should RIC users do?
To avoid potential issues with performance and connectivity during this update, I kindly ask all RIC users to switch to ADA. This will ensure minimal impact if anything unexpected happens during the upgrade process.
If you use Personal DNS Profiles (PDP), please reach out to me to secure backup copies of your profiles or to preserve specific personal settings.

Sometimes, to get better — you have to risk stability.
I revisited RFC1035 and… rewrote critical parts of the DNS processing logic in OpenBLD DoH.
Why? Because speed matters. Especially when millions of DNS queries are at stake every day.
What’s changed under the hood:
⚙️ Updated TLS ciphers and security processes
⚡ HTTP/2 support — now enforced everywhere
🧠 Reworked the entire request handling pipeline
All changes were battle-tested — no crashes, no chaos. Just a solid ~10% performance boost.
This week, the update rolls out across the entire ADA infrastructure.
If you want to stay ahead — be faster, be agile, and don’t be afraid to break things.

Ever wondered what happens to your DNS request over TCP when it passes through a filtering proxy or a censorship system?
Usually — it gets “downgraded” to UDP.
Because “it’s faster”... but that breaks the point..
TCP is a stream. And now, OpenBLD.net DNS is too.
Now imagine this:
1. The client makes a TCP DNS request (e.g. DNSSEC, DoH, or just a large response)
2. It passes through the OpenBLD filter → through a UNIX socket
3. And reaches the load balancer — still over TCP
End-to-End TCP (TCP passthrough) now works across the entire path.
