SEC ASKS EXCHANGES TO UPDATE 19B-4 FILINGS ON AN ACCELERATED BASIS FOR SPOT ETHER ETFS

The week ahead there is the FOMC meeting minutes at 14 UTC on May 22, and there is the potential approval of spot ETH ETF on May 23. According to Bloomberg analysts, approval odds increased to 75% lately. It 's the final deadline for some of the filings, so they should be rejected or approved, the SEC can't delay some of them anymore, and therefor if they do as spot BTC ETFs, they should approve all the request at the same time at the first final deadline.

By the end of this month, the U.S. House of Representatives is going to vote on a major bill (HR 4763). The CFTC would regulate a digital asset as a commodity if it runs is functional and decentralized. The SEC would regulate a digital asset as a security if its associated blockchain is functional but not decentralized. The bill defines decentralization as “no person has unilateral authority to control the blockchain or its usage, and no issuer or affiliated person has control of 20% or more of the digital asset or the voting power”. — link

The U.S. securities regulator on Monday asked Nasdaq and CBOE to fine-tune their applications to list spot ETH ETFs, signaling the agency may be poised to approve the filings, three people familiar with the process told Reuters. — link

In the last two days, I'd say the path for the ETH ETF is the same of the approved BTC ETF. At this point I'd be very surprised they're not approved on or before Thursday. @onchainbuzz
