The Dragon Stairs
This is simply a picture of stairs from our last tour to Novi-Sad Serbia 2025. It was found in a former residential house now turned in to a shop.
Easy to walk past and miss, but when you realise that his is how all stairs where at one point, an opportunity to show beauty and to remember the dragon !
Its the details that made the old world special, join us on the next tour ! Serbia, October 2026

What are these?
Everywhere we travel we find the same curious little squares in the floor.
They're called vault lights. You'll find them in every major city in the world. We found these on our last tour to Serbia, and where you find a vault light, you can normally find evidence of a Mudflood.
We're going back in October to go under the vault lights.
Have you seen these in your city or town?

The Colourful Church π·πΈ
The Church of St Mary sits in the central square of Novi Sad, Serbia. Apparently a new build from early in 1890, although we know an earlier church already stood on the site. Then came its great fire in 1904, just 14 years after it's apparent reconstruction.
But that's not why we're going back to look at this place again...
Between the top of the interior church ceiling and that incredible colourful tiled roof appears to be a huge void, possibly two floors high in places. Yet we've found very little about what is actually up there.
So whatβs inside?
A church full of wonder and perhaps a few secrets!
Novi Sad, weβll see you again in October. π·πΈ

Belgrade β Sremski Karlovci β Novi Sad β Petrovaradin Fortress β Belgrade
01. Orientation Day Arrival into Belgrade. We'll meet you at the hotel and hand over your welcome kit, with time to settle in before an orientation dinner, a chance for the group to meet, get their bearings, and mark the true start of the expedition together.
02. Belgrade Kalemegdan Fortress in the morning, the ancient stronghold where Belgrade's story begins, then an afternoon at the Nikola Tesla Museum, tracing the life of Serbia's most famous mind.
03. Sremski Karlovci & Novi Sad After breakfast, we head north. Lunch in Sremski Karlovci, where Angie Dragoness joins us for the Novi Sad part of the expedition. From there we continue on to Novi Sad and check into your hotel.
04. Novi Sad A full day to properly get to know Novi Sad: wandering its Habsburg-era old town, the wide pedestrian streets radiating out from the main square, lunch somewhere along the way. Less a checklist, more a chance to let the city set the pace.
05. Petrovaradin Fortress A day inside the fortress that watches over the Danube: the grounds and ramparts in the morning, then down into the tunnel network in the afternoon.
06. Back to Belgrade A little more time in Novi Sad in the morning, then we travel back to Belgrade, with time to wander before the group's last dinner together: a proper send-off to close the week.
07. Departure A last Belgrade morning before we get you to the airport. The tour ends here. What you take from it doesn't.

It is said that anyone who drinks from the Four Lions fountain in Sremski Karlovci will return to the town, and marry. The red marble fountain was built in 1799 by the Italian architect Giuseppe Aprili.
Some trace its symbolism to a contested telling of Hyperborea, the legendary land said to lie beyond the north wind.
