watching death note again, I realized how Light's parents were a bunch of assholes, they only cared for his grades at school and nothing else.

When I was younger, Light was such an interesting character to me, he really felt like the right one for me. But after growing up, I realized how much more interesting L actually is. L sometimes call Light childish, and now I understand why. L, on the other hand, is such an incredible and fascinating character. His definition of right and wrong is never explicitly discussed in the manga; he simply does what is right because it is right. I compare that to the Christian idea that good acts don’t need justification, they are good by their own nature.
I also love the Christian symbolism in L’s character, especially that scene where he washes Light’s feet. He always knew Light was Kira, yet even so, he declared Light his friend. He forgave him from the very beginning.
