I can't believe it they translated Sayonara wo oshiete to brazilian portuguese BEFORE the english community. Sayonara wo Oshiete was one of the many reasons for me to start learning japanese, cause' this vn is excellent but there was no translation.
dude I can't believe it... I literally started learning japanese for this VN in particular, and they finally came up with a translation, and for my language on top of it...
I will... not read it!
I will keep studying japanese until I can read the original work
but fuck, I couldn't imagine that, I'm really impressed by those translator, it's a very grammatically complex work.

imho you will need more than a decade to learn japanese enough to be able to understand the literarary wizardry used in such a vn and there are people who actually understand and adapted it for you to read natively
you don't learn japanese THEN you read visual novels(or any japanese media.)
you're learning japanese THEREFORE you read visual novels.
it's not a matter of reading it only when you get good at japanese, living is a constantly learning process, I'm still learning my mother tongue to this day. You need to immerse in order to learn it, and the only way of immersing in japanese is consuming its medias.
I just don't feel decent enough to read such visual novels, I don't have 2k words in my vocabulary yet, but as soon I get more than 2k, I will start consuming more complex medias and learning from them.

Nope really. The main problem is kanjis
believe me, it's not.
japanese people only use a few kanji in their daily lives, so you don't need to memorize a billion of kanjis in order to understand japanese. Kanji is just scary when you start learning japanese.
