My current japanese learning status:
I’ve gone through hundreds of anki cards by now, but my biggest problem is grammar. Sometimes I can recognize 95% of the kanji in a text, yet I still struggle to make sense of the sentence.
Japanese is so simple that it almost feels “indigenous” to me. Some texts just throw isolated words at you with no solid structure, and you’re expected to build meaning yourself. For example, imagine a translated japanese sentence that just goes: “today, coffee, room, thinking.” You have to interpret it as something like “I was thinking about coffee in my room today.” That’s where I struggle the most, forming coherent meaning from vague fragments.

And after realizing that, I finally understood why it's so difficult to REALLY translate japanese media to english — it's actually impossible, you will definitely change the original stuff completely in order to create an coherent english sentence.
I understand what I must do to achieve better japanese interpretation, and it's solely immersion, I need to immerse more and not try to translate things in my head, just accept how vague they are and interpret them automatically in japanese itself.
