This is actually extremely sad. Saya is the cute Russian girl who was in Japan dressed as Hatsune Miku years ago

There was a time when cosplaying wasn’t a thing for whores but something for true otakus. Decades ago, people genuinely enjoyed cosplaying without doing it for money. I believe there are still people like that, but it has become more niche…

I have no idea how to make friends

It's easier than you might think. You just need to see if the person is actually interested in you. If they are, no matter how stupid your conversation is, they will become your friend.

To verify if they are interested, you need to see if they are actually trying to open up to you—to some extent, of course. I usually ask about their nationality; if they are not afraid to share this, it means they want you to know them and, therefore, become friends. However, if they try to hide too much information about themselves, they probably don’t really want to form a bond with you, so you might not want to waste your time on them.

what if no one is actually interested in me
Almost impossible. There are 8 billion people out there, and some will find things about you that interest them. Being more open about your interests is a great way to make friends, as it allows others to see if you have something that interests them—thus, they will be more likely to reach out to you.

Everything comes down to people opening up in order to connect with you. You also need to open yourself up so they can connect with you. It’s like the ports on your PC that you need to open to play a co-op game! Just make sure to check if they’re willing to open their ports to you. If they aren’t, don’t waste your time trying to make them your friend, nor deceive yourself by thinking, "If they get to know me better, they’ll surely find me interesting." That doesn’t happen—their interest in you is already evident in the first conversation.

You may find this wrong, but I asked this question to everyone in the group chat, and every single person who is active and has become important to us shared their nationality. You can disagree with my methods, but not with my results!
