What really messed up the internet was COVID-19. The number of "otakus" increased significantly because of it, and it also disrupted the IT job market.

I had a kind of stalker once. Some years ago, I wasn’t much different from how I am today (aesthetically speaking), and I had a fairly popular Facebook blog page. I had a follower named Eduardo who used a lot of my pictures as his profile pictures and frequently shared content from my page.
All I know is that Eduardo looked very similar to me (aesthetically speaking), but he was deeply depressed. One day, he committed suicide. After that, one of his acquaintances became extremely fixated on me because I resembled Eduardo to him. He would follow me everywhere—on every single platform (online, of course). It was annoying. I had to ban and block him multiple times, yet he kept coming back to bother me.
Nowadays, he can't find me—but I believe he still tries. A friend of mine recently told me that this guy was asking him for my social media accounts…

The way he was fixated on me was deeply sad. I tried to be nice to him at first, but he was extremely annoying, and I couldn't help but block him. I deeply wish for him to forget about all of this—to forget about that Eduardo as well—and move on. After all, his fixation wasn't on me, but on someone that was no longer here.

It's easier than you might think. You just need to see if the person is actually interested in you. If they are, no matter how stupid your conversation is, they will become your friend.
To verify if they are interested, you need to see if they are actually trying to open up to you—to some extent, of course. I usually ask about their nationality; if they are not afraid to share this, it means they want you to know them and, therefore, become friends. However, if they try to hide too much information about themselves, they probably don’t really want to form a bond with you, so you might not want to waste your time on them.

This is the methodology I’ve been following for years, and it has proven to be correct.

what if no one is actually interested in me
Almost impossible. There are 8 billion people out there, and some will find things about you that interest them. Being more open about your interests is a great way to make friends, as it allows others to see if you have something that interests them—thus, they will be more likely to reach out to you.

Everything comes down to people opening up in order to connect with you. You also need to open yourself up so they can connect with you. It’s like the ports on your PC that you need to open to play a co-op game! Just make sure to check if they’re willing to open their ports to you. If they aren’t, don’t waste your time trying to make them your friend, nor deceive yourself by thinking, "If they get to know me better, they’ll surely find me interesting." That doesn’t happen—their interest in you is already evident in the first conversation.
