“...I always knew our friendship had an expiration date, but then I did something I shouldn’t have. Before I could fix it we graduated, and I was here and he was in London and never– he never tried to contact me– and I didn’t know how to get a hold of him–” ... “We just stopped talking,” he whispers. “It was just– one day he was always there, and then the next he wasn’t. And it was my fault.”

today this prof was talking about how malaria kills over 1-3 million people every year and in the past three years, overall, covid's killed 6-5 million and asked why there isn't a worldwide concern for malaria as there was/is for covid. and yeah. bc it doesn't happen to first world countries, the disease is practically nonexistent to them. so those deaths are insignificant and overlooked, which very much wasn't the case with covid's deaths. and i think that was a very nice way for him to start his class. bless.

"I always find myself changing so much to become whatever I think I ought to be, whatever people will like. You're the first person I don't feel like I have to do that around. It's like I have the chance to discover who I am when I’m at rest. Spending time with you makes me happy because I'm with you, and because for maybe the first time I'm with me too."
