The U.S. secretly warned Iran that Islamic State was preparing to carry out the terrorist attack early this month that killed more than 80 Iranians in a pair of coordinated suicide bombings, U.S. officials said.

The confidential alert came after the U.S. acquired intelligence that Islamic State’s affiliate in Afghanistan, ISIS-Khorasan, known as ISIS-K, was plotting to attack Iran, they said.

American officials said the information passed to Iran was specific enough about the location and sufficiently timely that it might have proved useful to Tehran in thwarting the attack on Jan. 3 or at least mitigating the casualty toll.

Biden plans to dispatch CIA Director William J. Burns in the coming days to help broker an ambitious deal between Hamas and Israel that would involve the release of all remaining hostages held in Gaza and the longest cessation of hostilities since the war began last year, according to officials familiar with the matter.

Burns is expected to travel to Europe for the talks and meet with the Israeli and Egyptian intelligence chiefs, David Barnea and Abbas Kamel, and Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, these people said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive negotiations. The planned gathering has not been previously reported.

Burns’s discussions in Europe are expected to build on his phone conversations with counterparts, as well as the work of the White House’s top Middle East official, Brett McGurk, who this week has held related meetings in Qatar’s capital, Doha and in Cairo

Senior House lawmakers met Taiwan’s president-elect in Taipei on Thursday, marking the first congressional delegation to the island after elections earlier this month, in a show of American support amid an intimidation campaign from Beijing.

Taiwan president-elect Lai Ching-te said he welcomed deepening ties with the U.S. alongside Reps. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) and Ami Bera (D-Calif.), the bipartisan co-chairs of the House Taiwan Caucus.

“Marking 45 years of the Taiwan Relations Act, we look forward to deepening Taiwan-US partnership and remain committed to advancing regional stability,” Lai wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Taiwan looks to the U.S. as its key partner to counter China’s efforts to subsume the island through diplomatic, economic and military coercion.

Anons have essentially taken over the news and ascended the traditional mainstream media matrix in a way that's causing News outlets and hallow out their organizations and give up their fruitless task of indoctrination. A subset of humanity has become so much wiser than any of them. We instantly see through psyops and our BS meter is on alert at all times.

We think for ourselves and there's nothing the establishment can do about it.

President Donald Trump on Thursday joined an effort by a co-defendant in his Georgia election interference case to disqualify prosecutor Fani Willis, according to a court filing.

Trump co-defendant Michael Roman has alleged in previous court filings that Willis had an inappropriate relationship with Nathan Wade, the lawyer she hired to help run the criminal case.

Trump's defense team endorsed those claims and leveled new accusations that Willis "inappropriately injected race into the case and stoked racial animus" during a speech responding to Roman's allegations.

President Trump moved Thursday to adopt a motion to dismiss the election interference charges against him in Georgia, with his lawyer pointing to an alleged improper romantic relationship between Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and special prosecutor Nathan Wade.

“Although this Court may not have the authority to disbar DA Willis, it certainly does have the power to dismiss the indictment and to disqualify her, the special prosecutors she hired and her office from any further involvement in this case or any related matter, and should do so here,” Trump attorney Steve Sadow said in the court filing.
