I congratulate Nigeria's Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen, on winning the CAF 2023 Men’s Player of the Year award, and the remarkable achievements of Asisat Oshoala of Nigeria’s Super Falcons, who clinched the 2023 CAF Women's Player of The Year for the sixth time, Chiamaka Nnadozie, who was awarded the Woman Goalkeeper of the Year, as well as the Super Falcons for emerging the Women's National Team of the Year.

I commend the trio of Osimhen, Oshoala and Nnadozie for their outstanding performances on both national and international stages, and for being sources of pride to the nation and an inspiration for aspiring footballers across the continent.

Watching the great ambassadors of Nigeria stand atop the podium as the African Footballers of the Year, in the men and women categories, on Monday night in Marrakesh, Morocco, has strengthened our belief that with hard work, perseverance, and the help of God, everything this nation needs for greatness is within us and available to us.

I commend Victor and Asisat for not forgetting their roots and days of humble beginnings in the game they love so much and for acknowledging the role of indigenous coaches in shaping their careers.

I join all Nigerian fans in praying that this well-deserved honour will be the beginning of a continued journey filled with success, triumphs, and the fulfilment of all your footballing dreams.
Today, I celebrate my friend, former President Muhammadu Buhari - an icon of truth, justice, and patriotism, on his 81st birthday.

I recall his service to the nation at various times as Head of State and President. His leadership and meritorious service have significantly shaped our nation. We recall his unparalleled infrastructural achievements, including new airports, railway lines, seaports, dams, power stations, expressways, mega-bridges, and Nigeria’s first national social investment program. His dedication to modernizing defence and enhancing food security has been transformative.

As he celebrates his 81st birthday, I appreciate his friendship and support for my administration. While wishing him longevity and strength, I can assure that the dream of a prosperous, peaceful, and progressive Nigeria will be realized.

Happy Birthday, President Buhari!
Let the light of Christmas guide our paths as we bring this year to a close and usher in the new year. Nigeria will shortly emerge into a dawn of prosperity, peace, and irreversible progress.

Merry Christmas to you all

In this new year, let us resolve that as joint-heirs to the Nigerian Commonwealth, we will work for the peace, progress and stability of our country.

We must let the light each of us carry - men and women, young and old- shine bright and brighter to illuminate our path to a glorious dawn.

I wish all of us a happy and prosperous year 2024.

May God continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
I am deeply saddened by the devastating explosion that occurred in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, on Tuesday night.

The explosion killed two persons and wounded about 80 others. It also destroyed several buildings, vehicles, and other properties.

It is worrisome that the cause of the blast is being attributed to the activities of illegal miners. Those behind the inexcusable and reckless behavior that has created the conditions for this sad incident to occur must be fished out and punished.

I commiserate with the government and people of Oyo State and call on all concerned agencies of government to unravel the circumstances that led to this tragedy with alacrity.

I have directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to work with the Oyo State Government to offer immediate and comprehensive relief to the victims.
I heartily congratulate Nigerian workers on the auspicious occasion of Workers' Day, held annually to celebrate the lifeblood of our country.

I salute Nigerian workers for their fidelity to the peace, progress, and development of the nation, evident in their tireless efforts and patriotic zeal to keep the national engine running.

I celebrate Nigerian workers across all spheres—from the clerical officer who ensures the proper documentation and distribution of correspondence; the security officer who remains ever dutiful through all seasons; the teacher who secures the future of our nation by imparting knowledge to the next generation; the doctor who works relentlessly to save precious lives, and to all Nigerian workers who keep the candle aflame.

I affirm that my administration remains committed to improving the welfare of all workers, noting the various relief programmes, including the wage award and the imminent minimum wage review.

I strongly believe that the custodians of the nation's machinery deserve a fair wage and enhanced welfare, and that a labourer is deserving of not just any reward but fair and commensurate wages.

I assure Nigerian workers of my dedication to not only improving their welfare but also enhancing their working conditions and providing the necessary tools for them to succeed.

I wish Nigerian workers a Happy May Day celebration
I celebrate our mothers, the fount of life,
on this special occasion of Mother's Day.

This day, as always, reminds us of the precious gifts and blessings that our mothers represent.

As the harbingers of life, nurturers of our growth, and champions of our feats, they light our paths, comfort us, guide us, and ensure that we get to the gates of destiny.

The sacrifices of our mothers are simply beyond comparison - both for individual families and the nation.

I salute all mothers and women in Nigeria and around the world on this momentous day.

Happy Mother's Day.
My fellow Nigerians,

Today, I address you with a sense of responsibility, as we navigate through these times. The protests, which turned violent in some parts of our nation, have caused unimaginable pain and loss, particularly to the families of those who have tragically lost their lives. Our nation’s resources are stretched thin as we rebuild what has been destroyed.

As your President, I am committed to ensuring public order and protecting the lives and property of every Nigerian. We must come together, suspending further protests, and embrace dialogue for the sake of our nation’s unity and progress.

Despite the challenges, our government is making significant strides. We have doubled government revenues by blocking leakages and introducing automation, reduced debt service, and launched major infrastructure projects. Initiatives like the Compressed Natural Gas Initiative, the MSME Hubs, and the Renewed Hope City and Estate projects aim to improve the quality of life for all Nigerians. To drive down the cost of food and medicines, I have ordered the suspension of duties on critical food items and medical supplies for the next six months, in the first instance, while I can also confirm to you that billions of Naira worth of tractors and planting equipment purchased from US, Brazil and Belarus, are already on the way to our country.

We have also shown our commitment to the youth with programs like the student loan scheme and the Digital and Creative Enterprises initiative, which will create millions of jobs.

Let us choose hope over fear, unity over division, and progress over stagnation. Together, we can build a brighter future for ourselves and generations to come.

Forward Ever, Backward Never!

Thank you for your attention, and may God bless our great nation, Nigeria.
