The Beautiful Multipolar New World Order

BRICS-based multipolarity will save us from The Technocratic Dark State by making the rollout of an oppressive global surveillance state much better.

This will be the result of “improving global governance.” At least, that is according to the BRICS Outcome Document published by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs after the latest riveting meeting of BRICS foreign ministers.

Centralised global dictatorship will be a happier, fluffier kind of new world order tyranny under the BRICS’ multipolar model because it will be “more just, equitable, agile, effective, efficient, responsive, representative, legitimate, democratic and accountable.” Fantastic news, doubtless…...

“It’s all so tiresome”: UK’s Social Media Ban Trudges Ever Onward

The UK government’s “consultation” on social media harm is over, and – brace yourselves – it turns out they’re going to have to do something about it.

I know, I was shocked too.

The main talking point is that “social media is like cigarettes”. Everyone is saying that, it’s the meme of the day.

It’s a sentiment originally taken from a new report submitted to the consultation by the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges.

Titled “Growing up in an online world”, it contains this hilarious line in the foreword:
…there is, I

Best of OffG: A look at the “97.4% of climate scientists” meme

Originally published February 2017, one of our earliest Climate Change articles. It tackles not only the broader narrative, but specifically one of most oft-quoted and misleading statistics on the internet.

On 4 February, 2017 the Daily Mail published an article entitled: “World Leaders Duped by Manipulated Global Warming Data”.

“…The Mail on Sunday today reveals astonishing evidence that the organisation that is the world’s leading source of climate data rushed to publish a landmark paper that exaggerated global warming and was timed to influence the historic Paris Agreement on climate change.

A high-level whistleblower has told this…...

The Joy of Being Stupid

Yesterday I was engaged in my typical morning routine. Scanning the internet for interesting stories to read and news to soak in. Reading a few things here and there and watching a couple of videos. I settled in after a bit of this to write an article for my Substack “Shrew Views.”

The topic is unimportant—typically something to do with something that caught my fancy during my news scanning, or something someone said to me yesterday about whatever, all mixed in with my learned and experienced knowledge of archetypal psychology. Nothing earth-shattering, mind you, but hopefully an insight some…...

This Week in the New Normal #120

Our successor to This Week in the Guardian, This Week in the New Normal is our weekly chart of the progress of autocracy, authoritarianism and economic restructuring around the world.

1. The end of over-the-counter medicines?

A report from ITV is warning that millions of Brits may be in danger of becoming addicted to codeine via non-prescription medicines:
“Around 10 million people in the UK may have put themselves at risk of developing a dependency or addiction to codeine-based painkillers

But it’s not just painkillers, it’s antihistamines and sleep aids too:…...

The Permanent War Government: Who’s Really Calling the Shots in Washington?

“You want to defend the United States of America, then defend it with the tools it supplies you with—its Constitution. You ask for a mandate, General, from a ballot box. You don’t steal it after midnight, when the country has its back turned.”
Seven Days in May (1964)

Who is actually running the government? That is no longer a rhetorical question.

As America’s war with Iran lurches from escalation to ceasefire to renewed threats of military force, Americans are being asked to trust that someone, somewhere, knows what they are doing.

But who?

The president who boasts…...

The UK Column Conundrum

The independent media faces a conundrum. We need to be able to criticise and to respond to each other’s work without it spiraling down the plughole into a messy mulch of accusation, counter-accusation, and unseemly personal spats.

This is very important. If independent journalists and outlets can’t manage to stay at least somewhat professional, audiences and readers will drift away with good reason.

At the risk of boring you rigid, dear reader, I understand why yet another article written about what has apparently happened at UK Column (UKC) would seem to you to be just more immature bitching from…...

In an upcoming podcast episode with Vanessa Beeley, we speak about the persistent coordinated gutter-journalism attacks we've had to endure for months now, from individuals in the 'independent journalism' space, including Hrvoje Moric, David Hughes, Michael Ginsburg (who is pro-Israel, as per his own words), Iain Davis, and others.

She doesn't hold back and it's time for us, on the receiving end, to hit back and continue hitting back. UK Column has already put out an article in which they rebut absurd allegations made by disgruntled former contributors who are part of the coordinated attack.

These individuals are on the wrong side of history and are trying to create a distraction from our real enemies.

Quick Take…what’s up with CBDCs?

Have you seen a mainstream headline about central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) so far this year?

Probably not.

What used to be a regular on the front page has been curiously absent. What stories there are have been tucked away, and the tone is decidedly changed:
Is a digital euro necessary for monetary sovereignty? Rethinking the CBDC debate

That’s from Santander, riffing off a report from the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), “Central bank digital currency and monetary sovereignty”, which concludes [emphasis added]:
the case for CBDC as a prerequisite for

“Device-Level” Nudity Detection: UK Gov’t Blackmailing Public into Digital ID

British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer announced plans, in a speech earlier today, to introduce “device-level controls” that will prevent children from viewing, sending or taking naked photographs:

This government will not stand by while children are put at risk online.

Today I am calling on the tech companies to introduce device-level controls to prevent children from taking, sharing or viewing nude images.

And if they don’t act, we will.

— Keir Starmer (@Keir_Starmer) June 8, 2026

According to Justice Minister Catherine Atkinson, the UK will become “the first country where it…...

Sevastopol has introduced a gasoline-once-a-week-(maybe)-via-QR-code system. Not to be confused with NATO's "cheap Russian oil (and no QR code needed) via the Druzhba pipeline" system. It is good that we have left the uni-system world for getting gasoline, and now have multiple systems for getting gasoline. [source: ria.ru]

Forget About ‘Healthy Life’

It has been reported that ‘healthy life expectancy’ in the UK has fallen during the past decade.

Disparity between the ‘healthy life expectancy’ of those in different regions of the UK has been described. A 20-year gap between the ‘healthy life expectancy’ of those in Richmond and the ‘healthy life expectancy’ of those in Blackpool has been alleged.

The concept of ‘healthy life expectancy’ has been bandied as if we have used it always. Its precursor, ‘healthy lifestyle,’ is already ubiquitous. Its successor, surely to be ‘healthy lifespan.’

But the concept of ‘healthy life-anything’ should be unusable. It should…...
