Toxic Agribusiness’s Genetically Mutilated Greenwash

In recent years, the global movement toward regenerative and organic agriculture has gained significant momentum. These approaches promise to restore soil health, enhance biodiversity, reduce reliance on synthetic chemicals and create more sustainable and resilient food systems.

Rooted in ecological principles and farmer autonomy, these practices have become vital alternatives to the destructive patterns of industrial agriculture, which has long prioritised short-term yields and profit over environmental integrity and public health.

However, despite their promising potential, these movements face a formidable challenge: the encroachment of big agribusiness corporations seeking to co-opt and distort their core principles. Through aggressive marketing…...

Actually, “personal beliefs” DO supersede “the public good”

Personal beliefs do not supersede the public good – and vaccination is a public good

The above quote – taken from a headline in the Globe and Mail – is wrong. It is wrong in general and the specific.

It doesn’t matter what “personal beliefs” are being referred to, and it doesn’t matter which particular “public good” is being protected, it is wrong.

It is wrong because “personal belief” is a placeholder phrase for “individual liberty” and “public good” for compelled action.

In this instance, it is talking about vaccination and religious freedom – these causes are…...

Maybe It’s in the Water

On August 16, 1951, the quiet town of Pont-Saint-Esprit in southern France was struck by a bizarre outbreak. Residents suddenly experienced severe symptoms: nausea, insomnia, and vivid hallucinations.

People reported seeing terrifying visions—snakes crawling out of their stomachs, fire engulfing their bodies, or blood dripping from the walls of their homes. Some cases were extreme: an 11-year-old boy attempted to strangle his grandmother, a man jumped from a window claiming he was an airplane, and others were restrained in straitjackets or chained to their beds.

By the end, at least 5 people died (some sources say 7), dozens were…...

Let’s talk about…the Spain/Portugal blackout

Yesterday we woke up to the news that huge areas of Spain and Portugal – as well as Andorra and some parts of southern France – were completely without power.

Major cities all across the Iberian Peninsula were impacted, including vital transport hubs. Trains, planes and automobiles were disrupted. Traffic signals, phone signals and internet signals were broken down.

There was a state of emergency and the now-cliche panic buying.

It’s slowly coming back online, but over 24 hours later there’s no official cause.

Some people are reporting the possibility of a cyber attack, though that is one of…...

Will the Real Anti-Semites Please Shut Up

Normally I wouldn’t waste any time on Rob Eshman, a senior columnist at Forward whose mealy-mouthed brand of liberal Zionism is so clueless that it’s an embarrassment even to liberal Zionists.

He’s arguedin printthat the only real trouble with the “sacrifice and bravery of Israeli soldiers on the front lines” in Gaza is that the genocide they’re perpetrating “is making American Jews less safe” – as if Albert Schweitzer had written to Hitler, “Enough with the gas chambers, Adolf! I mean, people are starting to look at me funny when they hear…...

The Long Game of Tony Blair: From Climate Optimism to Technocratic Control

In the final weeks of his time as UK Prime Minister in 2007, Tony Blair made an oddly casual but revealing remark about the climate crisis.

“Don’t worry about the climate — technology will fix it.”

At the time, it seemed like a vague gesture. A reassuring message from a departing leader trying to bridge realism and optimism.

Eighteen years later, we now know what he meant.

On April 29, 2025, the Tony Blair Institute published a new climate strategy paper titled The Climate Paradox: Why We Need to Reset Action on Climate Change.

At first glance, it…...

Woollaston’s Jabs Are Not Scary Says Cary

Congratulations to Ben Woollaston who won a hard fought snooker match against four-time World Snooker Champion Mark Selby (10 – 8). Woollaston has progressed to second round of the Halo World Snooker Championships held in the Crucible Theater Sheffield.

Woollaston’s achievement is notable, not just because it is one hell of an achievement, but because Woollaston has only recently recovered sufficiently from a vaccine injury to play top flight snooker again.

Having said all that, according to Tom Cary, a journalist writing for The MI6egraph, Woollaston only “claims” to have been injured by the Covid jabs. Cary wrote—as in…...

Wicked Gusts

Sometimes I think about the raccoons I fed during the orange sky days of a year ago, out there in the wilderness. Yesterday we had some wicked gusts of wind roiling up the branches and I could hear a soft whistle whisper at the eaves of the house I’d not heard before.

There was nothing there. It was as if the wind was singing to itself.

The cat and I listened for a long time until she decided to do her dementia routine and started her usual afternoon howling. She quite overshadowed the singing of the wind. She quite…...

Is the Military Developing Mind Reading Tech?

In James Corbett’s recent article, “The Battle for Your Brain is ALREADY Underway,” he lists various DARPA-funded projects developing technologies that, allegedly, will soon be able to read and control your thoughts.

Researchers working in this field have been making such claims for decades now. Near the end of the article, Corbett poses the question of whether or not various DARPA press releases and research project publications might be part of a massive propaganda campaign:

It’s enough to make one wonder if the trumpeting of these neuroweapons is itself part of the infowar.”

That…...

Wozzeck’s Nightmare

The Canadian Opera Company is just finishing up their run of one of the 20th Century’s most intriguing operas, Alban Berg’s Wozzeck (1925), adapted from Georg Büchner’s play Woyzeck. It is a three-act atonal opera that chronicles the tragic descent of Franz Wozzeck, a poor soldier in a 19th-century German town.

Tormented by poverty, military oppression, and betrayal, Wozzeck endures exploitation by a sadistic Captain, a callous Doctor who uses him for medical experiments, and his lover Marie, who has an affair with a charismatic Drum Major (what other kind of Drum Major is there?).

As Wozzeck’s mental stability…...

The Enemy of My Enemy

One of the most effective thought-terminating clichés is “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.”

It is particularly effective because it works on both people who are, let’s say, not extraordinarily intelligent, and on more intelligent people, people who you wouldn’t expect to fall for such simplistic tricks.

It is especially effective in hyper-polarized sociocultural environments, like the one we’re in currently, where people feel like they need to be on one or the other side of whatever.

If you’re unfamiliar with thought-terminating clichés, the term was popularized by Robert Jay Lifton in his…...

This Week in the New Normal #101

Our successor to This Week in the Guardian, This Week in the New Normal is our weekly chart of the progress of autocracy, authoritarianism and economic restructuring around the world.

1. German Opposition Branded “Extremists”

The German intelligence services have officially labelled right-wing political party Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) “right-wing extremists”, paving the way for a potential ban.

To be clear, this is not about whether or not AfD are far-right extremists. The powers-that-be have no strong feelings about extremism from either wing, and are happy to use either to serve their…...

Revolution from the Soil: Anti-Imperialism and Food Sovereignty in Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso, under President Ibrahim Traoré, has become a focal point for anti-imperialist sentiment and political renewal in Africa. Traoré’s government has taken bold steps to assert national sovereignty, including the expulsion of French military forces, the denunciation of Western interference and the forging of new regional alliances with Russia and Sahelian neighbours.

These actions have resonated across the continent, reigniting hopes for a new era of African dignity and self-determination in the postcolonial age. Traoré’s vision draws inspiration from the revolutionary legacy of Thomas Sankara, whose leadership in the 1980s prioritised food sovereignty, agroecology and the empowerment of…...

Let’s talk about…India vs Pakistan

Early this morning, the Pakistani government claimed the Indian military had launched missiles at several sites in Pakistan and the Pakistan-administered Kashmir region.

India confirmed this story, claiming it had struck “terrorist infrastructure” in retaliation for the alleged terrorist attack carried out in Pahalgam on April 22nd.

Pakistani officials counter-claimed there were no terrorists or terrorist sites struck, only civilians, and vowed to “respond appropriately”, before shelling areas of India-controlled Kashmir.

…and so we have a new war.

A brand new theatre of “global conflict” has opened up, and theatre is the only word for it.

It is…...

Inside CBDC’s Anti-Trump Rebrand

The planned rollout of a planet-wide network of “interoperable” digital currencies has shifted gears this year.

Digital Currency is still the endgame, but – in keeping with the spirit of the age – it seems they are changing the method to create the illusion of sides and choices.

We covered this briefly our most recent This Week in the New Normal, but it’s worth a deeper dive.

For years now OffG (and many others in the alternative media sphere) have covered the plans for programmable digital currency as a means for technocratic social control. This goal is years old,…...

Treebeard’s Razor: The Ents Weigh in on AI Art and Writing

There is still a lot of excitement about generative AI. Clearly then, not enough cold water has been thrown on it. I am here to help.

First we need to equip ourselves with a philosophical razor, Treebeard’s Razor.

Treebeard is an Ent, a tree man character from J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. Treebeard doesn’t like AI art, he thinks it’s crap.

In the following excerpt from the Lord of The Rings, Treebeard explains something about his tree people’s language, Old Entish.
It is a lovely language, but it takes
