I would like to make 1984 compulsory reading for everyone. The actual book, full text. Because the architects of this dystopia we are entering certainly read it - and they understand it far more than most of us do.
In fact Orwell described our current world pretty accurately. The imposed shortages, the invented political narrative from which truth has been completely exiled even as a radical perspective. War as a mutually understood vertical control mechanism. It's strange that it's such a referenced text but no one seems to know how to deal with it becoming reality.
The genocidal Nazis had their big day back in 2014, and now they're just another skin for the chaos merchants to wear. Like ISIS or al Qaeda, or White Supremacist anti-vaxxers. Another scare in their Haunted House tour. Something for everyone of every political affiliation.
Sure they're as happy to kill people with war as with clot shots. No difference to them.
Death sells. Anything you want it to sell.
We had our chance to see through the charade once and for all back in 2020 when they quite by accident revealed the real extent of chummy supranational cooperation there is between supposed geopolitical foes. If we had all maintained that insight we could fight this looming thing much more effectively.

A friend of mine recently overheard two women in Waitrose each talking about "my Ukrainian".
Yes, apparently middle class English people shopping in Waitrose own a Ukrainian now.
Meaning the "refugee" they took in back in the spring.
(Remember that narrative? Millions of people allegedly fleeing Putins's alleged terror campaign that never actually materialized)
Anyhow, the two women in Waitrose were exchanging chat about what 'their' respective Ukrainian would do.
The first woman said her Ukrainian was surprisingly good at ironing, and always willing to walk the dog and never complained.
The second woman said her Ukrainian had learned English cooking and took care of the kids and never asked for a day off
So, it turns out this influx of newly stateless individuals was a good thing, because they're very good at housework, and happy to do it for you in return for being allowed to live in your spare room with their entire worldly possessions stuffed in the one drawer you allotted them.
Isn't that nice.
Lovely genteel middle class English slavery is still thriving among the boarded up shop fronts, exponentially rising fuel bills and emptying supermarket shelves.
