Iain Davis's article on Putin that we published two days ago has become the target of unprecedented amounts of trolling today.
We have literally never seen such mass swarms of shills and bots, even during the crazy days of peak "covid" when our site was regularly targeted for trying to put out some undesirable truths.
The article attracted over 300 comments and a lively debate before today when the troll army moved in.
Today our free voting system has been hijacked by a half dozen bots who mass down vote the article and any comments supporting it faster than humanly possible.
For some reason our resident 77thers have been detailed to pour hate on this piece - a thing we did not expect.
We must emphasize - this is quite separate from the legitimate comments by people with legitimate and well-argued objections to Iain's article. These contributors are always welcome and healthy, open debate is encouraged - which is why we are reluctant to enforce registration or any form of filtering process in those who want to vote or comment.
Unfortunately it's our determination to keep debate wide open that makes us vulnerable to dishonest and hostile attacks like these we have just experienced.

I just got off zooming today with a lawyer friend of mine. He seems to be a nice guy but rather “play it by the book” (as these types are wont to be). Through the course of conversation I had to reveal that I am unvaccinated (he had just come from an overseas trip and asked where I had been in the world since our last conversation 12 months hence).
Body language gave away his position on the vaccination issue, and then verbally confirmed it with the comment, “I believe everyone should be vaccinated for obvious reasons.”

The Abe Assassination – what we know (and don’t know) so far
Yesterday, former Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe was attending a campaign event in the city of Nara when a man shot him twice in the back with a homemade shotgun.
Abe was rushed to hospital, still alive, but apparently “unresponsive”. A short while later he was declared dead.

According to the New York Times the US is currently “losing the fight with Monkeypox”. That’s probably news to you.
After all, given the fact the US has around 700 cases of Monkeypox (around 0.0002% of the population), that the entire world only 8000 “cases” (about 0.0001%), and that there have been just 3 reported deaths…well, you’d be forgiven for not realising there was a fight at all, let alone that we were losing.
It’s really more of a kerfuffle. At worst. Perhaps a fracas.
That is – of course – assuming there is any monkeypox “outbreak” at…...

In the UK, the price of nitrogen fertiliser has doubled over the past year to around £330 per tonne. With oil currently at over $130 a barrel and with OPEC warning it could reach $200 by the end of the year, it has been suggested that fertilisers could hit GBP 500 a tonne. At these prices, the claimed efficiency of fossil-fuel and fertiliser dependent industrial farming begins to collapse.”
