The irony of posting this isn't lost, but it is very true. Gardening will give you some food independence at the very least.

Radio comms.
If you are using a Baofeng UV-5R and have swapped the antenna around quite a lot and now find the locking nut is getting loose, did you know the volume knob has a set of locating pins that allow you to tighten it up again.

If it's easy and if it's convenient it isn't necessarily going to benefit you in the long term.

Generator

2.2Kw SGS generator Β£50 nr Doncaster. Will need carb draining or cleaning...not a difficult task, ask if you want help or advice with that. It'll also probably want an oil change, again a very simple task...just ask.

Seller says,
"Used for track days over the years so had an easy life. Fired up this morning as per the video, now it needs a bit of easy start so suspect old crap fuel needs draining."

Functionality.

Whether you have an offgrid plot of land, live in a campervan or live in a house you need to plan around making things, systems easier for you. Think of it this way, it's silly temperatures and you're struggling to function, or you're unwell from a headache, injury, food poisoning or whatever else...now all those tasks you didn't really pay much attention to become a burden and difficult chore. Plan ahead, keep it simple and most important of all look after yourself!

At some point or other they did try to warn us, why didn't people listen and why aren't they warning people now?

'Convenience' and modem foods come at a high cost, when is your health worth less?

I suspect this cartoon is much older than 1993.
Did you know...

In the 1950s, farmers in the U.S. attempted to use coconut oil to fatten pigs, but the results were contrary to their goals: coconut oil made the pigs leaner, more active, and increased their hunger rather than promoting weight gain. This outcome was attributed to the pro-thyroid properties of the oil, which accelerated metabolism and prevented the desired fattening effect.
Consequently, the agricultural industry abandoned coconut oil in favor of corn and soybeans, or earlier chemical additives, which suppressed thyroid function and allowed pigs to gain weight more efficiently by slowing their metabolism. While modern studies indicate that coconut oil does not significantly impair growth performance or feed efficiency in contemporary settings, the historical shift occurred because highly unsaturated seed oils (like soybean and corn oil) were far more effective at producing rapid fattening with reduced feed consumption.
